When you start the game after downlead it will begin to load and then shut down and say the game is already running. This will come up multiple times on start up.

I’ve had that on occasion - try restarting your PC. Worked for me.
Use Task Manager and check for existing instances of the EXE running. End-Task and relaunch.
I have already tried both of those ideas
Try logging out of x-box, and then ms store, and then back into both.
Right click on the desktop icon, then click “Open”. While the program is loading, move your mouse away from the icon. My son double clicked on the icon and he got the same multiple “already running” message. Make sure you don’t hit enter or the spacebar while it’s loading as that can trigger a command to re-start the program. Hope this helps.
