Compatibility issues? What all two of you? (exaggeration but still)
I got the AMD update yesterday and I’m in heaven… Windows 11 is very gaming centric as you will all see once DX12 is here.

I got the AMD update yesterday and I’m in heaven… Windows 11 is very gaming centric as you will all see once DX12 is here.
So far I’ve only ran across one problem with Windows 11 (installed it the day it was officially released) and that has been with EZdok Camera for P3D.
You could be right, but you also could be wrong. It is hard to tell isn’t it? The reason I switched back was also because I didn’t see any formal statement of MSFS that Windows 11 was supported, so I just figured to roll back to W10.
Maybe, the only thing I know is that rolling back to W10 solved the issue and that with W11 I had a reproducible problem. Whatever was causing the problem, it is gone now. W11 will come in time, I am in no hurry.
Well I couldn’t load into a flight anymore, I would call that an issue. Sure, I cannot prove that it was not a random problem not related to W11. But rolling back to W10 solved my issue.
It is a bit harsh to claim that other peoples issues don’t exist. I mean the forum is full of people who have problems with installing, CTD’s, etc… I never had any of those issues (ok, I had two CTD’s since launch), but I wouldn’t claim they don’t exist. It is not very helpful to say: ‘hey, your problem doesn’t exit, move on’. Helpful would be: ‘hey, what did you do, what happened, etc.’.
The forum is certainly not full of people with CTD’s when you consider the sheer amount of users out there and certainly not since SU6 which fixed the vast majority of them.
Apologies if this has already been answered but the thread is pretty long and I don’t really want to go through it all, but what is the prefered options regarding Windows 11 with HAGS and game mode? With Windows 10 i think it was common practice to have have both off. Talking from a VR point of view if that makes any difference.
What I meant was, that even though CTD’s are not an issue for me, there are other people who do have consistent CTD issues.
Instead of asking here, why dont you try it for yourself. The answers here will vary greatly from individual to individual.
Game Mode - supposed to kill all unnecessary processes - should be helpful
HAGS - I have no idea Ive tried it Hags on and Hags off, Hags off seems to be the better, but I’ve also had things setup on this machine, where Hags was good, of course same machine Ive had settings set that makes HAGS bad.,… go figure
You’d be very hard pushed to find any that still have them.
Why does everyone think it can’t be their PC that’s at fault?
Because sometimes it isn’t. Sebastian Wloch himself stated in the WU6 Q&A (i.e. the one before the last) that they are continuously fixing CTD’s. But you are right, in some cases it is not MSFS but a third party program that is causing the issue.
Because everyone with a PC is a god of technology, their internet is always perfect, their machines are configured perfect etc etc…
Of course about 80% of my problems to date have been on my side, all kinds of stupid little things that dont affect other games just this one. What they dont seem to realize, is that MSFS you pretty much have to run a system / connection that has 0 issues ;p
I have both off.
Well I have tried it for myself but thank you for the suggestion. I have also tried nearly every combination of nvidia settings but still have not settled on a setting. As Windows 11 is a new product I was wondering if people know of any benefits they may give as their description gives the impression they should be on but my experience from Windows 10 is that the game runs better with them off.
I think you’ll get a different answer from whoever you ask.
Personally I can’t see (or measure) any difference with game mode on or off. I leave it on as it just feels like less background processes should be useful.
With Hags off I get a bit of stuttering during the approach to landing or in photogrammetry areas. With Hags on I find it smoother, so I leave it on.
I’m running a Ryzen 7 3700X with 32GB of 3600Mhz Ram and a 2070 Super and an NVME 2 drive.
As many people have said, just try it and see how it affects your system.
Default NVCP is fine, there really isn’t much to be gained except if your card supports DSR (in global settings) but that won’t give more fps, just better antialiasing. If you have fast ram you can turn low latency mode to on.
Edit: this takes no account for VR
Windows 11 is a beaute. The UI changes, animations etc are just awesome. I’m using a Ryzen CPU and all seems well. I’d say my performance has marginally improved with 11.
While pretty, I ran into a significant number of problems minutes after the upgrade. Bluetooth headset was behaving inconsistently between different apps, several fonts were botched when exporting Word files to PDF (as an attorney this is catastrophic breakage), file indexing would randomly stop, even after rebuilding the index cache. The inability to shrink the comically large taskbar was spoiled icing on the cake at that point.
Lots of promise, too little polish for the time being. At least rolling back to 10 was trivial.
Yeah its hard to find the sweet spot between decent fps and smooth performance. I rearranged the office today, so I set HAGS and Graphics mode on, tried it after the move, it seems to take a few min’s after you launch a flight for any real significant results and quite honestly it wasnt that significant …
Turning on IPV6 across the network, router, bios, win made some difference, I did that a couple of days ago, making sure your hdmi port on your display is set to extended made a pretty big difference when I discovered that a month or so ago…LOL
You see this isnt MSFS it MicroSoft Learn toTune your PC simulator ;p
One thing to have enabled is resizable BAR (if your motherboard and GPU support it). No harm to have it on for MSFS and certainly has a benefit for other titles.
I don’t think MSFS takes advantage of that. The software has to support it, as far as I know, so any effect may be placebo.
