In anticipation of VR next week I watched the video on what we will need to do to hook up our headsets through the Windows mixed reality. I have never used that. So I start it up and my system checks out. Then it says I must plug in my headset, well it’s already plugged in and working perfectly. I unplug it, replug it. Still says the same. Restart the system, update the GPU driver. Still nothing. Anyone else overcome this?
What video, where?
I wouldn’t expect WMR to recognize an Oculus device. They must have different instructions for those.
Edit - unless they’re updating WMR for that purpose specifically for this. But I can’t realistically see that happening.
The new video Asobo posted about the VR. The guy brings up the mixed reality app and says you have to set it up.
Yea.. I’m wondering if the Oculous software will recognize it? Or will I have to use Steam VR? I’m waiting for the onslaught of MY VR WONT WORK threads.
Oculus uses its own library for OpenXR. You do not need to install WMR portal to support OpenXR in Oculus. I am currently using Rift S if you know what that means
So NO mixed reality needed for occulus rift in msfs2020 ?
Occulus own software is enough ?
Correct. No WMR for Oculus needed.
Thanks for your feedback. Are you a vr beta tester on occulus rift ?
So you start occulus Software and than launch msfs2020 ?
Yes. I am beta testing the Rift S. Unfortunatelly, I do not want to risk a warning for breaking the NDA.
I just can say. Do not worry. OpenXR and Oculus software is enough.
Thats fine - all i wanted to know. One last question what is OpenXR ?
Easy
OpenXR support already included in Oculus software.
Thanks
Be really curious what we can expect on the 22dec.
Hopefully it’ll be plug n play. That is: the game will recognize which headset you have installed without us having to edit the registry or anything.
Although, pertaining to oculus, i could see them requiring the PTC beta
Thank you for the answers which makes me feel better and hopefully won’t have any issues
