Winds reported in meter per second in METAR are represented in knot

When a METAR reports wind in meter per second, like for example:

UTDK 141730Z 01012MPS 9999 TS SCT067CB BKN130 29/10 Q1005 R01/09//70 RMK QFE697/0930

the GNS and NDs in the aircraft, default or addon, appear to report it in knot.

For the above METAR we will see 12 instead of around 23 being displayed on a Navigation Display with wind vector.

For a long time the opposite was true with the SIM ATIS reporting everything in M/S rather than knots and not applying the correct conversion (although this was only on terms of reporting, not actual wind speeds -they were all correct).

Perhaps when they fixed that issue, they just turned the problem on its head? It would be less apparent as fewer IRL sources report in m/s compared to knots so escaped notice until now.
