'Windshield Effects' Option reverts to Medium even when High is selected and Saved

:white_check_mark: ISSUE DESCRIPTION

  1. Description of the issue:
    In the graphics options drop down menu, Windshield Effects option always reverts to Medium no matter what option is selected and saved. If High is selected and saved, the next flight will show Medium as the selected option. In fact, Medium shows selected every time the options menu is entered regardless of what was selected in the past. This is the only graphics menu option that doesn’t stick and save. There is clearly a difference because the windshield looks much better every time High is selected and saved but this has to be selected on every flight.

  2. Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
    Yes

Every new flight, every time the options menu is accessed.

  1. Select Options Menu
  2. Select Windshield Effects
  3. Select High. When the menu is closed and opened again, Medium is selected.

Same here. Any fix for this?

I think I figured out a workaround. Exit the sim. Find your usercfg.opt file and change WindSheild Quality to 2. Remember to save the file. Once you start the sim the next time, the option should now be on High permanently, as long as you don’t ever touch that setting in the sim. It should look like this in the file:

Description of the issue: by default the “Windshield Effects” in the global rendering quality is set to medium. I change it to set to “high” then click on “save and back” then when i come back in the menu the setting is back to “medium”

1.Go to settings, graphics tab, global rendering quality
2.Set windshield effect from medium to high
3.Save
4. Go back to the settings and it will be back itself to medium

Every time I set my windshield effects to ultra on the graphics menu, it resets itself to medium.

Change the windshield effects to utra, save, go back to the plane and go back again to the graphics menu. The setting will appear at medium again

Known Bug… Same on my end

Here’s a FIX

  1. Locate UserCfg.opt file in C:\users..\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

  2. Open as “.TXT”

  3. Search for “{WindShield Quality 2” and replace “2” with “3”

Should be mantained there after…

same problem here.
It seems ok with the fix but I hope it will be patched
@ LucaVer19 are u sure for the value 3 ?
When I put 3 , after a restart, the param revert back to 1 for me (and it s medium in the settings)
I think 2 is the good value like said topic author.

Yes use 2. I use 2 also and now it shows as HIGH in the MFSF24 Settings. Maybe 3 means Ultra or what ever, did not check that.

But the same issue with Live Traffic in career mode. There is a setting to activate live traffic when you fly career mode, but every time it goes off again. Then i activate it again and save it. later it goes to off again. Strange stuff…

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Some settings, like “Windshield effects” and others do not save.
After setting them to another value et go “Back and Save”, they switch back to their original state after restarting the simulator.
Same for the keyboard: I selected “H” for “toggle hook” and deselected everything else.
Next time a start the sim, I crash again because “H” went back to “decrease mixture and condition level”
Unflyable!

Now the workaround editing config.cfg and setting Windshield Effects to 2 (or 3) doesn’t work either. It keeps reverting back to Medium somehow.
