Brief description of the issue:
Just got a Winwing F16 EX stick and base. Would love for it to work in PC MSFS.
MS 2020 see’s the stick in controls and even gets the model right. However in the settings window it is blank so I can not do any bindings. Is it a problem with 2020 seeing too many buttons? Why does 2020 not see all of the
Winwing see all of the F-16 ES Viper stick functions? Any way to make this work?

Yews I did. Is there a setting in there I need to apply? How did you set it up?
2020 sees the device but does not let me change bindings since none are offered.
Since I don’t know your setup it is impossible to give you any concrete advice. My setup is working well but I maybe using additional software that you do not have. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Maybe if I knew more about your particular setup (OS, other hardware, other software) I could help more. If you want me to give you a quick fix I am unable to do that.
Yes you’re right. sorry. I am running Win 11, 32 gb ram. Mostly play elite dangerous but want to get back in MSFS 2020 since I haven’t lately.
Throttle Virpil CM3 and a Winwing F-16 EX Viper stick. Been using SimAppPro for Winwing calibration, assigning and testing . It has a 32 button on or off.
I have to check that box for Elite Dangerous to make sure it see all my buttons/hats.
I thought at first 2020 would not see more than 32 buttons. I tried both way and it didn’t make difference to MSFS. As you can see MSFS does see the hardware but does not alliow me to assign bindings. I see others use a Virpil Alpha stick and CM3 throttle. They think MSFS should see the hardware and be able assign bindings. I see I have the SimAppPro on to make the MSFS see’s more than one device and need to turn that off’ Doesn’t seem to be a button limitation IDK.
I think I found the problem. It was a 3rd party app Vjoy. I had it running so the Elite
Dangerous to be able to also see 2 devices. With it I could bind all my buttons on stick and throttle. When I uninstalled it MSFS could see my devices and allow to bind ‘I think’ Haven’t done it yet but it does give me a choice for bindings. If I want to play Elite I need to reinstall it.
Winwing throttle and stick combo, no issue with MSFS, you don’t need the Winwing app running. The only issue I ever had was my stick movement didn’t translate into ingame movement, calibration of x y axis in the Winwing app resolved.
Hi I’m currently having the same problem with my orion 2 hotas but i don’t know of any third party apps that are running. was wondering if anybody had a solution because this has been frustrating me for the past 2 days. can provide more info if needed.
I need help here, I have no third party apps running but MSFS still leaves my Winwing F-16EX blank, it can detect input but I can’t bind it to anything
Winwing devices can be seen and mapped in MSFS without issues, including all buttons and the combinations of axis+buttons at the same time in a single element. So there´s no need to use the 32 buttons option. I can confirm that Winwing devices can be seen and mapped via Spad.Next as well, so that´s still an alternative option if MSFS still refuses to allow direct mapping via menus.
Winwing application works like vJoy (indeed it includes vJoy), creating a merged device with more than 100 buttons out of your single base + throttle grips and one with around 40 buttons for the joystick base + grip. This merged device is what MSFS sees. However Windows will still see just a 32 buttons device. To be safe change the device parameters without running game. This can prevent incorrect assignments on the MSFS profile.
I would suggest you check that you have the latest application version (it was just updated few days ago) and also the latest firmware on all the individual elements, and update it if needed from the application itself:
For the time being also check that you have any other virtual joysticks software uninstalled and virtual devices are disabled on Winwing application itself:
In case you need it you can use the included vJoy version on Winwing application to create virtual devices for games that may need it.
Also consider that MSFS UI is a bit buggy in SU14, so some controls may not be visible until menu is refreshed, and even after that some entries may randomly vanish. Try searching for any generic command and assign the command to any button when the command entry appears. Then apply changes and reload the controls menu. You may need to do it once so that your profile gets at least one input and it´s saved once. That could be the reason for you empty list. I found issues like those when populating my profile for the first time some days ago.
Hello, I just bought the Winwing orion 2 throttle with the F16-EX grip. It works like a charm in DCS, but the sensitivity in MSFS is crazy. I can’t seem to find a decent setting. The plane just spins and I constantly end up losing control. Any ideas?
I calibrated both in windows and using the simapp pro. Should it work out of the box with msfs? I feel as if there is a delay between my actions and what my plane is doing. The axis also feel very sensitive and twitchy. (default msfs joystick settings)
