WinWing MCDU not displaying screen

Thanks, will do as you suggested.

MCDU keyboard works / MCDU display stays blank

here my solution if it can help you:

Step 1: Firewall
Allow SimBridge + SimAppPro through firewall

Step 2: SimAppPro Paths
User data: C:\Users"YOURPATH"\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs
Install: C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator
Aircraft model:
\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore
Third‑Party model:
\LocalCache\Packages\Community

Step 3: SimBridge (on the FBW FlyPad → Settings → Sim Options)
I set SimBridge Host machine to: THIS PC
I Enable SimBridge connection: AUTO (auto‑deactivates after 5 min if no connection)

Result: the Winwing MCDU display became alive using SimAppPro

I tested in both Flybywire Stable + Development and it works.

Hope this help.

I started a WW ticket and the support guy had a list of instructions to follow, with questions at each step.

That fixed the MCDU display. I think there is a sequencing issue in the software setup i.e. SimAppPro must run first.

I also bought the Fenix A320 which is great, the MCDU has loads of extra features, including throttle calibration.

There is a “Pause at TOD” option, which is great for practicing idle descent patterns. Heights at waypoints were spot on.

adding to this thread because when I search this problem this is the second google result. The MCDU display problem still doesnt work. IT is funny how MUCH I use the MCDU during flight. When the display doesnt work I KNOW it

Anyhow on to my issue;

right now the Winwing support has change the ticketing system The “Chat now” section doesnt work and it is under customer support you can find you one issue under post sales. It was working yesterday but is broken yet again. @PilotJedi668 Id love to see your instructions because I never got to that point. I entered my ticket on the 27th 3 days ago. I am running the latest fbw a20n. simapp is 1.16.73 beta and my flight sim 2024 I think is SU3. I am not doing the beta on 2024. I just made the switch over to 2024 since the fbw installer updated with a toggle to install the fbw on 2024. Everything is working fcu efis stick throttle but the MCDU keypresses work fine but there is NO display. My paths might be off too. IN the post by @Louis465075 I am having a problem finding \localcache\ when I figure out that directory (I am having windows search for it I will put the whole path from the C: )

Found the localcache directory. It is pretty deep.

C:\Users"YOURPATH"\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\localcache\packages\officia2024\Onestore (notice the official isnt official it is official2024 not like the example)

Third Party Aircraft Model Path is

C:\Users"YOURPATH"\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\localcache\packages\community\

lets see if this works because folder structure matters and mine is a default install but simapppro sometimes doesnt get the folders right.

It now works! OK things I did.. ALL 4 paths in simapppro I checked them. and added them. I think they were wrong. the OFFICIAL2024 one I think changed.

Simbridge wasnt starting on its own but once I started it I saw the MCDU come up.

So check your paths (This has been a problem a few times Ive had winwing stuff since like day one).. run simapppro first.. START simbridge in the FBW installer manually

boom success

Hurrah! Glad you made progress.

I think the critical step is SimAppPro must start before FS24. I’m using Fenix now so SimBridge is not needed.

The Fenix system takes about 20 seconds to boot up and it creates about 4-5 processes which you can see in Task Manager. First the EFIS and FCU light up and later the MCDU display lights up.

A few gotchas: Windows Sleep is non-recoverable, in that the MCDU will not light up but the EFIS and FCU do light up. One has to restart the flight at least, and perhaps the whole sim.

There is a FenixCDU.exe process which clearly drives the MCDU, so as time goes on I expect Fenix will improve it with a more reliable version.

Likewise SimAppPro is a beta build at the moment, WW will probably update it soon. As WW have a tremendous range of military jet hardware I’m sure they have the expertise to make the MCDU work reliably.

We have the same WW setup, although you have a wizz-bang panel hiding on the left which looks like the light switches.

Well it udpated twice in the past week broke both times. Last time 2 weekends ago I did the path trick and fixed it. This time. It will not fix so. my problems are back again. I opened a winwing ticket but they are not open at this hour. So great. Buttons work but there is NO display. Im pretty sure the problem is simapppro doesnt know where my 3rd party aircraft are despite knowing where my community folder is and setting it and the other three folders. You cant even tell if you had it right because when you hit the 3 dots it gives you the last folder you accessed NOT what is configured in simapppro. EVen logging out and deleting simapppro and reinstalling didnt work.

someone on facebook answered this and said “Power cycle your MCDU” I did this.. it came RIGHT back up. Didnt do anything but cut power and power it back up. So try that too. Sheesh.

now it works.. this is totally weird.

Just a thought. The MCDU has 2 USB-C ports, one for control and the other for power.

There’s a chance the display shuts down without enough power from the control input. If not, why is there a power input?

Does anyone run a second USB-C cable for power?
