Working Title G1000 NXi Discussion Thread

OK, so if I’m understanding that right, and say you were tracking towards a waypoint at 45°, and you changed the heading of the OBS to be say 90°, would the plane then turn north until it intercepted that course, and fly it to the waypoint?

And if I’m right about that:
A- Why would you ever want/need to do that?, and…
B- Wouldn’t that be pretty much a VFR only feature? Indeed even VNAV is almost a VFR only feature unless you get really creative in chasing the VPTH from above or below, depending on when ATC told you to descend.

Now, it’s quite possible I could be COMPLETELY wrong about my next statement, but it seems to me that for such a high end device, Garmin would be targeting IFR flying almost to the exclusion of VFR. Or am I nuts?
