All aircraft in the world map have the same plane symbol/icon.
It would be much more informative, interesting and easier to see, what is flying where, if they’d show the real aircraft type (this information is already available thru the aircraft category).
I like to join fellow helicopter simmers, but it’s a pain to click thru all the little green planes, to find them.
Adding icons for helicopters, single/double prop GA, fighterjets, two, three, four engine passenger jets, balloons would improve the world map a lot!
Current state:
The EFB even has a symbol for helicopters (actually just for you, not other helis):
The world map resembles online flight radars a lot. This is how flightaware solves it:
What do you think? Which other aircraft icons should exist?

Just two examples of how it could look like:

I think if the differnt aircraft symbols are introduced, this could also be used for the carrer mode. E.g if you have anumber of aircraft, I guess it is not only me that the first one I bought was a C-172. Over time I added some PC-12 and now A330-300 and the A330-Beluga to my fleet. All I are shown with the same symbol (shape and size) on the map when you select a mission. If there wa soem sort of disctinction betwenn them (e,g. color coding, propeller or jet engine etc) this would make it a bit easier to understand which type of aircraft is closest to a particular mission.

Absolutely agree, really makes helicopters feel like an after thought when you see nothing but plans on the maps. It would also be very helpful to be able to separate helo traffic from planes around cities and airports when plotting routes and approaches.

…exactly! And it would even be easy to implement, probably, because the information is already there (see aircraft selection menu categories)
