Putting all the drama of this thread aside…LOL, I’m glad the UK is up next for an update. I enjoy a nice leisurely flight across the English countryside, soaking in the views. Very relaxing indeed.
You do realise which language you are speaking now, right?
That language is spoken and understood in most parts of the world, so your life is much easier because you already speak a global language, albeit a simplified version of British English.
Obvious troll aside, I am looking forward to the UK world update, it’ll be great to fly over my home country and see great details, with less giant countryside office blocks.
I’m a Brit who studied English, German, French, Latin and Ancient Greek (not massively useful in my future career as it transpired) and came very quickly to the conclusion that the English language is far from intuitive. I do prefer American spellings and think that we English make some things a lot more complex than they should be. Obviously i’m a firm Brit at heart but it doesn’t stop me from having a hearty respect for some of the USA’s way of doing some things.
Edit: actually I found German the easiest to learn with the exception obviously of my home language.
In most places, for most of history, driving on the left seems to have been standard (you can see this in the layout of cart tracks on Roman roads and so forth).
There’s a reason for this. Most people are right-handed, so by driving on the left, that’d place their stronger hand in the best position to greet those coming the other way, or whack them with a sword, as seemed most appropriate.
So why do most countries drive on the right? The standard explanation for this is that it’s all Napoleon’s fault. He was left-handed, it’s said, and so was more comfortable on the right hand side of the road.
But in the USA Teamsters (who drove animals) used to sit on the left hand horse while driving a wagon and therefore keep their right hand free for whipping the other horses. In order to avoid collisions they decided to start driving on the right so that they could see the passing wheels of other wagons.
Don’t blame Napoleon.
Thanks but I got my own because I wanted to come back and say that I actually hoped that someone would say that it might not be too much to ask that the sim showed road traffic correctly in every country. Should not be too difficult to code.
