Very happy to have this handcrafted airport (gateway to tourist hotspot IRL) included in this world update. However, the gates aren’t sized to allow for AI to use and show up at this busy Caribbean airport. Aircraft land but disappear; gates are empty. Also, there’s significant stuttering as you move around the airport, especially looking towards runway 07. How do we change/update the scenery to address these two problems?
Anyone interested can contribute to the existing Bug Report:
Temporarily, I have found that if you use FSTraffic, it has a setting where you can change the AI wingspan allowances so that AI will show up at gates that are not the right radius. Works well.
Using ADE for MSFS (make sure folder paths and other options and settings are correct if it’s your first time using ADE - more can be found on this at FSDeveloper website), Click “File” then “Create project from stock” and type in “MKJS” on the ident. Put in whatever for Creator/Developer (give credit where credit is due) and whatever you’d like in Project Name and click “Go” then, put whatever in the Title and Description boxes. Then click “Save”
That should open up the ADE file and from there you can adjust the parking position sizes, assign airline codes, define pushback direction, etc. Under file, Save your work (this is saved as an ADE file only so you can easily get back to it and make changes within ADE), then click “Build Project” which will compile it to a readable file in MSFS.
Assuming no errors, you should have a new MKJS file in your Community folder which will be essentially an overwrite of the default with whatever changes you made. I usually have to play around with if the original needs to be uninstalled from MSFS or not - you ideally want it installed because it has all the models and everything associated with it, and this particular “overwrite” should not cause a conflict. If it does, then try uninstalling MSFS default and adding the models to the model library in ADE (see FSDeveloper website for more info). When/if MSFS fixes the problems, or if you encounter any problems with the one you just made, you simply delete the folder from your Community folder and it is gone and you’re back to the original default.
That should answer your question. However, when I open MKJS in ADE, I am showing the gate parking to be between 18 and 26 meters (for the parking positions with a jetway). 18 meters is big enough for an airline under the “small” section (up to but not including B757), and 26 meters is big enough to support anything below an airline categorized as a “heavy” (B777, B747, A330 for example). This leads me to think there may be an issue with your AI traffic. What program are you using for AI traffic? If not the AI traffic, then make sure that you do not have a duplicate MKJS in your community folder that would be conflicting with the MSFS one. Perhaps you installed one from FS . TO and forgot about it and now you have both that one and the MSFS one active. You can only have one active at a time and will need to delete the addon, or uninstall the MSFS one from the Content Manager within the sim. An easy way to tell is going into Content Manager in MSFS and searching MKJS. You’ll see all the MJKS addons installed. If it shows “Community” then it is installed in the community folder and you can delete it from there if you no longer want it. Or, if it is the MSFS default you want uninstalled, then expand the section until you see the MKJS Handcrafted wirport, click on it, click uninstall - this leaves you with only what is installed in community folder, or if nothing else in community folder for MKJS, then uninstalls the handcrafted MKJS leaving the basic original.
I would hope that MS/Gaya would fix this. Right now, it is a nice scenery that has problems with major 3rd party providers such as GSX and FSLTL. In GSX and FSLTL, all the gates are too small except for the two or three heavy gates. In GSX, when flying the A320N and searching the gates, all the gates, except the heavies, “are too small for your aircraft.” I am confident this issue could be resolved if the radiuses were increased a foot or two. Unfortunately, I am not confident in my ability to accomplish this using the above suggestion.
