Worse, flattened dynamic range - cockpit / world contrast after update 5

After update 5 the “contrast” between the cockpit and the world outside the cockpit was reduced, the dynamic range was “flattened” (not sure what words should I use).

Before the update 5 cockpit was darker when you looked outside, it felt realistic. Now it’s all flattened, the effect is almost gone.

Can you at least give the option to change the values in configuration so it looks like before?

I totally agree with you, it has worsened in every aspect

Something felt off, but I couldn’t realize what, before reading this. You are right. It was probably the effect which distinguished the most this new flight simulator, I loved it. It really added a lot to the experience. I guess there’s no way to just tweak it from some config file?

isnt it what we see also “on ground” ?.. It looks like some kind of “light computing” (Ambient Occlusion ?) is disabled. May be therefore the better perf :slight_smile: … But only a guess :slight_smile:

I get what you mean and I totally agree. This “auto-exposure” / HDR is one of the things I like that is different from all other sims and it’s realistic. Dark cockpits when you look outside, and washed out (overexposed) outside view when more of the cockpit is in view - this is a realistic simulation of HDR, also cameras do this - auto exposure thing. PC users have to suffer loosing these features for the sake of Xbox users?

I also assume it have somewhat to do with the xbox limitations. But I havent enough experiance about these. At least I noticed somewhat with the light is changed, from “cockpit till the ground” :joy: … may be we get it back in future releases.

This has nothing to do with PC vs XBox. XBox series X and S support HDR.
Please stop grinding your axe.

On the subject of this thread; there are and have been many contrary threads stating that the contrast is too much. Perhaps a selectable choice might satisfy most users.

Meant is not native HDR, because I not use HDR and the image I see from OP is also not HDR.
And the constrast, hmmm… no. It looks not same. But anyway… currently not the worst thing :wink:

I’m not grinding my axe. That’s why i ended that sentence with a question mark. I was just wondering about the design decisions - if there were any, that caused these reported “degradations” in line with launching the sim for XBox.

Guys, can’t try the latest hotfix. Can anyone who has, give us an update about the cockpit/world contrast issue? Is it fixed or at least did anything improve?

I did not test it for long, but no, I don’t think so.
