…in the marketplace there’s a jetliner package to show how to fly approaches etc with IFR etc. Does anyone know if it shows how to input data in the FMS and fly the route?
Essentially I want to learn how to use the aircraft systems and input all the info myself in the computer, what’s the best way to do this? Thank you for your help.
Start with the Fly By Wire A32NX if you are on a PC, as it is the most fully featured airliner currently available. I don’t recommend any of the default airliners as they are not sufficiently simulated. To learn how to fly the A32NX, check out 320 Sim Pilot’s tutorials. Alternatively, you could use the Aerosoft CRJ and there are tutorials for that on youtube as well.
I guess if you’re on XBOX, you can create a flight plan from the world map. You can see this guide that I’ve written years ago. I know this is an outdated guide for 787, but you can read the “Preparing Flight Plan” section of the guide that is still relevant today and it applies to any aircraft.
Once you create an IFR flight plan and press “Fly Now” your default A320 or 787 will have the flight plan pre-loaded into the MCDU/FMS respectively. All you need is start up the engine, get ATC clearance, and use the autopilot nav system to manage your flight, until you get to your destination and prepare for approach and land the aircraft.
You can also check out my Neo - YouTube channel if you want some inspiration. But note that I’m on PC and I use a lot of addons. So it might not be exactly the same with XBOX.
