This needs to be a priority for Microsoft/Asobo. Too many folks are going to purchase junk products from the marketplace and not know the difference between the CS 777 and Aerosoft CRJ.

^this.

Returning Simmers that know CS from before won’t be very careful, as they have a certain expectation from year long experiences with the developer, only to find out too late what they actually bought.
Yes, it is stated in the description. 1 Line in total.
And yes, there are screenshots that show the 747 displays.
These screenshots are 474 pixels wide on a 1920*1080 display.
Both of those are means to cover their backs legally but are by no means a proof of honesty by the developer.
And CS isn’t alone with releasing subpar products, just they had a reputation one could put some trust into.

…and no, I didn’t buy it, but I bet! many folks on Xbox and newcomers / returning simmers will. It might be the one purchase that makes them never to buy anything for MSFS again.

Think about that…

ps: In many nations, 30USD is a big chunk of a paycheck, the frustations levels in the western nations isn’t even compared to those of people who paid 10% of their income for something that isn’t what it seems.

This would have saved me a lot of time in finding out about the C182T model from Carenado. Took me 3 weeks asking on the discord to find somebody who had bought the mod, and hated it. Written reviews would mean only minutes spent researching a product. For the good products, this would save time and allow more visibility. For the bad mods this would allow users to see instantly why it was badly reviewed, and decide if it is worth it to them. I live in the USA, but I’m still a teenager with only a sidegig. 30 USD isn’t going to make me broke, but it’s a lot of money to risk.

Not sure if someone already mentioned it. But one of the “problems” i encounter with the market place is that its hard to find out what to expect from something that you want to buy.

Yeah we do have the star system. but it would be awesome if you could leave a shot review in the marketplace. Everyone could see waht other players think about it,without to much effort.

I ask this, because it is not enough to see that the soft that is put on sale has 1 to 5 stars, I would like to know the details, because many times the first impression can be excellent (as happened with FS that at the beginning all We gave it 5 stars) and as the days go by, the stars are not enough because one wants to know what it is that we may not like, such as the flight model, the textures, the controls, the termination, etc etc etc . Accompanying the score of the comments of the users would be of great interest to all and also a feedback for the author who would know where to fine-tune his work to make an excellent complement.

Hello everyone, I do not know if someone has posted it before, I was looking and I did not find on this topic.

It is about the scores that the planes and scenarios have in the market. I have seen that some of those offered by third parties especially, have very low ratings (today for example, I saw the MIG with 2 stars out of 5) and I think it would be very useful for buyers to be able to read some of the reviews that are made about the product -be it an aircraft, a ground, weather, visualization or scenery add-on- because perhaps we cannot correctly assess the product for sale, it is not the same that someone has not liked it because of the details (graphically speaking) that has malfunctions. OK, we can always start googling and looking for something on the subject, but I’m surprised that they are not listed or not allowed to do “in situ”, leave a comment who acquired it and can explain why they qualified that way. Do you understand what I am suggesting? I think it would help to choose and not buy something that does not deserve it. I’ve seen some products that I think shouldn’t be there.
I think that this that I comment could be subject to a vote to be added in future updates.
Greetings from the South of Argentina!

Yes, in the marketplace for customers of items it is only possible to rate an item with stars. It should be possible to add some comment text to explain, why an item is good or what is disappointing. This would be a great help for other customers and it would be a good motivation for content developers to deliver a good product quality, to remove bugs and to enhance quality in coming updates, when details are weak. Release notes for updates should be added too to the marketplace items.

It would also lower negativity brought here and on other MSFS related media.

Today we have another example of why we need this. A plane has appeared in the marketplace which has no cockpit! You have to fly it from outside using the external view!

If Microsoft is going to allow anyone to put any old garbage into the marketplace, then it really needs to let people write reviews of that garbage, along with reviews of the excellent planes that are in there.

No doubt this aircraft will get a low star rating but there is nothing in the marketplace to indicate why it has that rating. I’m sure some people will simply ignore the rating and buy it anyway, and I’m also sure there is no way on earth those same people would have bought it if they had been able to read reviews.

How many people blindly purchase a product with 1-2 stars?

I get that the stars rating is subjective and there are those willing to put aside other peoples opinions on marketplace products and try for themselves. But that’s not the fault of the marketplace, it’s the purchaser’s.

Any text based rating system, rarely works and is subject to manipulation by customers who don’t understand the product or the product ends up crashing on their system due to a conflict with some other add on. Who’s at fault in this scenario (Microsobo, the customer, the product or the other add on?). The customer through no fault of their own will undoubtedly blame the product via an emotionally charged negative review when in actuality it’s mixture of everything.

The product owner can also remove any negative based comments as is their right under various acts, policies etc.

The star rating system whilst “basic” is the best of the bunch and allows for those willing to take a punt without bias or loaded with other peoples opinions.

If you’re ever tempted to buy anything which has a bunch of 1 star ratings, don’t buy it. It’s really that simple.

Managing product quality however is a different matter entirely and not something a comment system would fix.

There’s very low effort into some obvious things in this roadshow.

Even this forum, the default heart, it isnt much effort to bring a ton of expression to the forum here.

FORUM

The more information a prospective buyer has the better. There is no information attached to a star rating.

If you read a review where a customer is ranting because of CTDs or is just ranting without giving any reason, then you are in a position to make a judgement of the worth of that review.

If you read several reviews that all highlight the same problem, that’s valuable information. If you read a review with a low or high rating and the reviewer explains that he gave the rating for reasons that are not important to you, that also is useful information.

It becomes clear fairly quickly through the reviews when an aircraft is of bad quality or tries to cash grab.

  1. I suggest restricting reviews for at least 2 weeks after a sim update release (to give devs time to update and re-submit their product)
  2. I suggest removing reviews that are older than a year to keep them representative of the current state of the aircraft.

It would be great to be able to not only rate marketplace software but provide a reason WHY. For example, a plane that’s 3.5 / 5. Is it because it’s a poor model? Not supported past day 1… ahem looking at a specific developer… or just because it has inaccurate flight controls?

And the same that goes for the well deserved 4.9/5 designs. Why? Great feedback? Constant updates? Accurate and unique attention to detail and sounds? etc

The problem with that is if a product really is trash, that developer gets two weeks of sales with no heads-up for the community. There are several YT channels that would likely call this out, but the focus of this thread is about Marketplace feedback.

The simplest way is to allow reviews to be edited, which is fair. If it’s trash on release, let the community report on that. If the developer fixes the plane, then perhaps trigger something that invalidates a review for a previous version. It would still be visible, but would be removed if the review isn’t updated in say a week.

Those who update their reviews will keep theirs. Those who don’t bother will cause them to be removed. It won’t stop someone trolling, but then nothing would.

I agree with this idea. You only have to look at other sites with written reviews to see why this in a great addition. For example, people will often trash a product because they had issues with the purchase process or other problems not related to the quality of the product itself. This is quite common on Amazon as well sites for brick and mortar stores. Written reviews allow the reader the opportunity to weed out those comments that don’t apply to the product itself.

Also there never appears to be anything in the version history even after products have had updates, and It would be good to know what changes have been made especially improvements/bug fixes over older versions.

We need reviews because lets say I want to buy the Dubai Terminal 3 airport update…but which one is better, the one that comes with premium deluxe version of FS (its one of the premium airports) or the one sold separately on the marketplace. Nobody is covering this online or on YT.
