hello- does anyone know if ww2 bombers are in production; including xbox compatibility? or how to request it?

B24 is especially special to me due to family connections in the war.

I believe there’s a B-17 in development but I can’t remember who is working on it.

B-17 by FlyingIron as other user has said. Also, Aeroplane Heaven is working on a Lancaster.
Note: Virtavia currently has a Short Stirling available outside of the marketplace, with update v1.3 just published last week.

Unknown if any have/will have Xbox compatibility.

FlyingIron has the B-17 in development.

Virtavia has released a Stirling.

I don’t believe there is a B-24 in development. It looks like some people have imported the FSX version…you could go that route, if you want to spend the effort, and end up with a plane that looks the part, but might not fly very well.

Gotcha, thanks guys. and I am on xbox & not pc so doing fsx port is out of my abilities. hopefully one shows up sometime on the market place

I’d strongly recommend looking into a gaming pc for a few reasons:

  1. The developers of these bombers will have to remove all visible guns…a major visual feature of these aircraft…for a marketplace release.

  2. It’s been taking 4-6 weeks between non-marketplace and marketplace releases, and another 4-6 for each patch/update.

  3. Repaints

  4. No guarantee that these bombers will be Xbox compatible. The AH Lanc probably will, but it’s going to take some work on FlyingIron’s part for the B-17 considering the complexity involved.

Thanks, valid points, but I am an Apple user. Xbox was more affordable & practical for me, and I don’t have patience or interest in tinkering manually with PC. I get there are tradeoffs but I’ll deal with it. I used to use X-Plane, but it got very frustrating manually configuring the .ini scenery order files and other items. MSFS is more of a game and flashy.

why do guns have to be taken off for marketplace ?

It’s a Microsoft rule, but it’s only enforced in the marketplace. If you’re on PC you can get addons from other places where that rule doesn’t apply………….

It’s a legal and certification thing aligned with the rating of the game from the ESRB, as far as I’m aware. Not sure if there are any MS or Asobo policies as well in regard to depictions of weapons of war.

Definitely looking forward to flying the Lancaster guns or not. Following the rivers 50 feet above water 4 Merlin’s humming can’t wait. Feel a video has to be made chocks away chaps.

I’d quite like a B-26, not a whole lot of twin radials with tricycle gear out there, and easier to micro-manage a twin on most throttle quads that we’ll have. FlakBait is being put back together at Udvar Hazy right now. And you could do an ‘executive’ version.

FlyingIron has released their other aircraft on Xbox (Hellcat, P-38, Spitfire, and BF-109), I skimmed the B-17 discord and didn’t see anything that said they would not be pushing it to console as well. Could be a good place to ask?

Interestingly enough they said there they were going to see if they could push a version with guns onto the marketplace.

I think the spitfire has visible guns on xbox, you hover over that part of the wing and you get a prompt

Can’t wait for it! I miss the A2A B-17 dearly, but a FlyingIron one will be the next best thing.

They could use broom sticks, like we did in the 1st Gulf War…. :crazy_face:

Anything that comes from flyingiron and you know it’s going to be a cracker and b17 is going into my Duxford collection :joy:
