Nice research work !
Been to your YT channel… keep them coming.
Personally , this kind of flight is one of the preffered ways I come to enjoy this sim.
Greetings
A very nice comment indeed. Cheers.
Thank you, Frank, for the interesting flight and look back at history! This makes trips in MSFS interesting for me, see and enjoy nice places from the air and learn something about history.
Just to add something: After initially used by the russians the Peenemuende airfield was used by an eastgerman Mig23 fighter squadron (“JG9”).
As for the museum the area calls itself now something like “Birthplace of space age”, a slogan hiding a little bit its military past (but not completely forgotten - political and technical development and brutally exploitation of slave workers is truthfully told in the museum).
An interesting side story of Peenmuendes past is the escape of some russian POWs/slave workers with a german He111 airplane in February 1945 ( see Mikhail Devyataev - Wikipedia )
Prora: I think, it was never completed as holiday resort, which explains the gap and missing building in the north. During GDR times (East Germany) it was used as baracks by the east german army (NVA). And now used and slowly restored as the mentioned hostel and holiday apartments.
Cheers!
@OnkelJu, thank you very much. Cheers.
