I have a PC with Intel Pentium 7 Processor 32gb ram and a Nvidia. RTX 306ti GPU display on a 42" 4k TV I am not to happy with the quality of the graphics and am considering updating my GPU. But would I be better buying a X Box series X.fore you create new topics in this section, please use the search function to look for existing topics that cover your idea. Yes I can afford that. I have tried various YouTube links on the Graphics settings but it’s a little to complicated for me (I am almost 80)

At the moment, with the current state of the sim after the last update, I would opt for a pc, but before that and hopefully in the future I’d recommend the Xbox series x every time. I migrated from the PC (prepare 3d) days to the Xbox x especially for mfs2020 and up till now it has been amazing. Fingers crossed they sort out the issues.
If you’re looking for less hassle and don’t want to spend all your time tweaking, upgrading and trying to find solutions to problems due to a myriad of conflicting applications and just want to sit down and fly and not have to worry about lots of settings Xbox x is 100% the way to go. It runs and looks just as good as your highest end pc. But like I said not at the moment after the most recent update.

Can you share more specific specs of your current system?
What model CPU? You mentioned Pentium 7. Did you mean Core i7?
RAM speed? It matters.
The reason I ask is that (in my humble opinion) when configuring a PC it’s important to balance the strengths and weaknesses of the three main components (not counting network speed, which is VERY important, and will become even more so with FS2024.)
Pairing a mediocre CPU with a very capable GPU just means your system will be CPU-limited, not allowing you to take advantage of the GPU’s capability.
Similarly, a mediocre GPU (like you currently have) paired with a powerful CPU will create a GPU-limited system.
I currently have an AMD 5800X3D paired with a 3090 Ti. There’s really no point in upgrading to a 4090, since my system would still be CPU-limited.
I don’t do VR. If I did, that would change things up, since VR is VERY dependent on GPU.
With Xbox you’re limited to the Marketplace but if you want to fly the 172 or the like and just fly around a bit then the Xbox could be your thing. When you want to go a bit further and want more airports and/or high fidelity planes you have to go to Pc because then you have the Marketplace but also the possiblity of many webshops so a way bigger choice. But, you need a good Pc. Hope it helps and have fun either way.
Agreed. I’m on Xbox and those are my reasons,+ I’m a Mac guy anyway.
But the annoying part is losing out on a handful of payware add ons & no freeware.

Thanks to everyone for their input.
My system is a Dell XPs With Intel core 7 11th Gem Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 32gb Ram.
I have had no problems with the system, it is only used for MSFS. I asked the question in view of the 2024 edition coming out later in the year. I have a 1Tb Nv SSD and a 1Tb hdd. The SSd is now almost full, with only Win 11 amd MSFS.
This my reason for asking the question.
With respect, but have you actually played MSFS on a high-end PC? I was on the Xbox X for two years and switched to PC about a year ago. My personal and honest opinion is that almost everything is better on PC. The one advantage the Xbox has going for it is the ease of use. It took a while to get the PC dialled in, but once I got there (and stopped obsessing about FPS) it’s been mostly smooth sailing with no need to tinker. The Xbox is also great value for money, there’s no denying that.
So while the Xbox certainly is a quite good platform you can’t compare it to a high-end PC. I mean how could you with such inferior hardware in the Xbox.
EDIT: my setup is i7-13700 / 4070ti 12 gb / 32 gb DDR5. It’s more like upper mid-tier but still leaps and bounds better at 4K than the Xbox X.

Can you post a screenshot during a normal flight showing the FPS display accessible when you enable Developer Mode?
In case you don’t know how (I think this is right…)
General Options → Experimental → Developer Mode
From the menu that appears at the top of the screen
Debug → Display FPS
I switched from a series X I’d been using for 18 months to a 7800X3d with 3060 12GB which I’ve now had for 1 year.
The PC is so much better in every way, I enjoy the sim 10x more now.
The only 2 aspects that were better for me with xbox were cost and it was more plug and play. These were more than offset by frequent CTD and black screens that ruined the experience. In addition the graphics are better on my PC and the flexibility and experience are incomparable.

I have the Series X and a 7800/4080S PC. I still will say that I did enjoy XB, and I could see it wasn’t optimized just like PC is not(XB is multi-thread/core too). There’s untapped power that will be realized with 2024.
You can always build big and you’re safe for 2020(with it’s shortcomings) and/or 2024 which may or may not be a massive improvement on both platforms(likely to be an even bigger improvement then we’re hoping for is my guess).
If you are in the ‘mid range’ and your upgrades will make it a ‘better midrange’, it’s a tough call to do it now or after 2024 releases. You’re kind of on par with an XBSX right now, albeit without the XB’s advantage of a custom OS to get a little more performance per given spec ‘horsepower’, they don’t have to run a full version of windows.
At 4K, XBSX has some advantages over 30 series cards as it has a whole host of cheats to get that 4K image. But you do give up a lot for XBSX for personalization, like thousands of things a lot. But if you are the type that keeps it simple, the XBSX would probably be the cheapest ‘upgrade’, not to mention it’s easy to sell at less than a 50% loss later, making it more like a $250 ‘plunge’ net.
But if you utilize any of PC’s vast world of customization already it would make you a bit nuts. From peripherals to freeware.
I would say up your GPU to 4070ti super at a minimum(as noted above). If looking ‘forward’ to an even bigger rebuild later maybe a 7900XTX or 4080S-although your current CPU may not be able to push those higher cards hard enough, but a 4070ti is plenty good for more powerful core hardware later.
The other path would be to upgrade the Mobo/CPU/Ram and push the 3060 harder, but 4K is a big ask for it.
I think one of the better 40 series is the only way to really leapfrog XBSX ‘cheating’ 4K better than it theoretically should be able to. But PC is more than just benchmark graphics.

While MSFS is not the same code elements of the old FSX architecture has been the cause of many a gnashing of teeth be it by PC or by Xbox users and coders alike which is why I expect things to improve dramatically in the new MSFS. If I’d have originally known the sim was to be released on xbox it would have been my choice but I am also really happy I built my PC, it may not have the highest specs but MSFS still wows me every time I press fly. My only worry is possibly losing my FG option but if MSFS2024 performance really is that much better then who really cares?
Lossless Scaling is $7 on Steam and works with every game.
