X Cub: heading indicator drift

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

The heading indicator in Cubcrafters X Cub plane keeps having drift as gyroscope based instrument. But it should behave as a heading indicator based on magnetometer which doesn’t need any drift correction at al.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

The drift is tied to earth rotation so approx. every 15 minutes or so the drift increases. After couple hours of flight the indicator is severely drifting and needs to be corrected.

But there is no physical control for the corection in the cockpit(because in real world thenplane doesn’t need it) soplayer need to find appropriate binding command in the controls setting and bind to some controller button in order to correct the drift.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Fly he X Cub plane for 1 hour (the more the higher drift)

  2. Check the heading indicator on the Garmin computer screen or the plane icon marker on the Garmin map screen.

  3. Compare the plane icon heading with real compas heading or with the plane icon on EFB map

  4. The heading on HSI and Garmin map is drifting from the real magnetic compas and EFB map (see screenshot below)

Do you happen to know if this is this an issue introduce in the SU6 beta and was not happening in the Live version ?

I just tested in the Live version(SU5) on PS5 in flat(2d) mode and after couple minutes of flying th X Cub I got “incorrect heading indicator” notification on screen. So yes, it is drifting. This is a result of roughly 20 minutes of flight: Note: here I’m flying using autopilot perfectly inlined on the purple line, but you can see the HSI and the plane on map is wrong because of the drifted heading indicator. Shouldnt happen on a plane with magnetometer and glass computer.

Moved out from Sim Update 6 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Aircraft & Systems since issue also happens in the Live version.
