Xbox Controller randomly disconnects

I encounter several random disconnections with my Xbox series X Controller while flying FS2020 on my Windows 10 PC.
Is there a solution ?

DO you have it plugged into your PC by the USB cord? If not it is disconnecting due to inactivity.

in windows 10 do a search for Power & Sleep settings , rightside select Additional power settings > if it’s on Balanced ( recommended ) will allow windows to turn off hardware to ‘save’ power.
set it to High performance , windows is not allowed to turn off hardware.

You need to download a companion app for the Xbox controller and update firmware, first time you launch it will prompt you to update firmware.

There is the same issue either USB or Bluetooth.

Ok. Thanks, I will check that.

I thing I did it already but I will try again.
Thanks.

Ok. Power setting was already in High mode.

When I plug the Controller in with USB, the following message box appears:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application’s support team for more information."

I updated the Controller but the issue is still there but with USB connected only.
Blutooth seems to be ok.
And it’s only with FS2020 because the controller still works with windows menus or other games running as the same time as FS2020 but it’s stuck in FS2020.
So I must disconnect and reconnect the USB each time it’s stuck.
I need to charge the controller before using FS2020 and go with blutooth only.

Just to let you know I have this too sometimes, so you’re not alone in experiencing it.

My controller stops responding for about ten seconds. This happens while I’m using it, so doesn’t happen during periods of inactivity.

Controller charge doesn’t seem to be a factor for me either. I just assumed it was a Bluetooth glitch but maybe it’s something in the software?

I don’t use the controller for anything else on my PC so I don’t know whether it’s only a MSFS issue.

Looks like the issue is still present with current updates I had to unplug and plug back in 10 times on a 1 hour flight I dont know why they cant just fix this issue once and for all kinda hard to fly a plane when you have to disconnect and game pause and then runs again and have no control of the plane when it cuts out come guys this been a ongoing issue since DAY ONE for alot people why cant you fix this issue I HAD THE ISSUE IT MY LAST CURRENT BETA TESTING AND STILL NOT FIXED

I also have this problem. My XBOX Wileless Controller disconnects randomly every few minutes for durations ranging from a few seconds to tens of seconds. Mine is connected via USB. I updated the controller’s firmware and its driver to the latest. Disabled “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” in Device Manager for the controller as well as all USB hub devices. This problem persists with MSFS 1.27.21.0 with all updated applied, and Windows 11 22H2 Version 10.0.22621 Build 22621.

I saw this listed under known issues for almost a year on Xbox OS release notes. My elite Series 2 controller still disconnects randomly.

I just installed 1.29.22.0 update. I flew for an hour, and I am happy to report I don’t see this problem any more.

I am now on 1.29.25.0. I am still seeing this problem, although the frequency seems to have gone down somewhat.
