Xbox crashes or screen freezes when loading or flying

During the last a few weeks, I experienced an increase of crashes in Microsoft flight simulator during flights, especially when flying more complex aircraft like the airbus 310 or even the TBM 390. Sometimes it even crashes when just loading the flight. Is there other Xbox users experiencing the same problem? I even withdraw from the Xbox stability test program to see if it could help but it didn’t.

Do you think that my content manager might be the cause of the problem I mean I have about 50 GB of downloaded stuff in there. But this is just the free Add-ons from Microsoft The only paid Add-ons I do own is the piper Comanche and the flight Academy, IFR. So the question is, If I delete everything in the content manager, would that be helpful? Is it possible that all the free add-ons from Microsoft installed are too much for the Xbox?

I’m asking that question because I just bought the flight simulator back in November so I’m still learning and I bought the Xbox for the sole purpose of playing this game. There is nothing else installed in this Xbox and I don’t get it why The stuff installed in the content manager would be the issue since the Xbox as solid state drive of One terabyte. If I delete everything in the content manager, will that affect The photogrammetry of the cities?

Are you quitting the game completely every time you finish using it? This game, like most, do not work very well with the quick resume feature (which unfortunately can’t be turned off). So if you’re not already doing it, each time you finish playing press the XBOX button on your controller or peripheral and select MSFS. Then press the hamburger (three lines) button, and select “quit”.

Something else to try before you start deleting things is to completely shut down (not restart, not sleep) the XBOX.

I have an MSFS install on my XBOX that is over 300 GB and I think I’ve only suffered one crash in the whole time I’ve used it.

Oh, I did not think of it. I was using the quick Resume feature every time as it loads the game in a few seconds I thought of it as a good feature. Well, maybe I was a little bit too Quick I already deleted everything in the content manager lol. I will see first if deleting everything does help.

From now on the Start button will always be the Hamburger button! :hamburger: I love that!
For me They’ve always been the Start and Select button, thank Nintendo’s NES for that. :video_game:

But yes, always start on a fresh boot of the sim. Stay away from quick resume as FL991R mentioned. You can delete your rolling cache in the data settings in MSFS. Some say the sim runs better without the rolling cache, and some say it is better at 32gb. If you have a decent internet connection I suggest turning the rolling cache off.

So I did a test today, with everything deleted in the content manager I just did a single flight in the Montreal area. So at the end of the flight I used the hamburger button to go back to the main menu and the screen froze. I had to quit the game and restart it so deleting everything was not the solution.

So now I am installing everything back in the game.

Are you also quitting the game completely?

Sounds like you may be using the hamburger button to quit the flight but not the game. You press the XBOX button first to bring up the menu, then select the game with the stick or d-pad, hamburger button, then “quit”.

No, I was using the quick resume most of the time now I will quit the game entirely after each time I will see if it improves things.
