Xbox limited to 3 keyboards at a time?

It appears that the Xbox may be limited to only 3 keyboard-type peripherals connected at a time. I’ve been using all of the following for the last 2 years now:

88-key keyboard

36-key keypad

Axair MIAP

Since the Xbox doesn’t use most other peripherals like panels and switches, everything has to emulate a keyboard.

Yesterday I received a new Cessna 172 switch panel from Etsy seller Simitation. (It’s a fantastic looking piece of kit, BTW. https://www.etsy.com/listing/4414613823/pcxbox-cessna-switch-panel)

And it works perfectly except for one thing - once I have all 4 devices connected, things start to get flaky. The behavior is very unpredictable, at least as far as I’ve been able to determine so far.

Sometimes input from one or more of the devices will stop being recognized, as if it’s not even connected.

At other times, control bindings will disappear. This is especially frustrating, as it takes about an hour to set up all of the bindings for the MIAP, which I did last night (again!) only to see them disappear again once I began a flight.

Restarting the flight brings them back, but then as soon as the 4th device is connected, they go away again or some device stops working.

So my solution I guess is going to keep the keyboard disconnected most of the time, and then shut something else off temporarily any time I need to use it. It’s the least used out of all of them, and honestly I may just get rid of it. I can use the keypad and virtual keyboard for almost everything.

This is probably going to put the kibosh on my plans to build a Knobster to work with Xbox, as it would also have to emulate another keyboard. I may go ahead and see if I can make it work anyway - I already have all the hardware.

Here’s what it all looks like together.
