It happens at various times, but only on Microsoft Flight Simulator. All other games can be played for hours without any overheating issues.

I have a problem with overheating, randomly turns off the console, sometimes 6 flights and nothing, sometimes 3 in a row and a crash.
Time to add some extra fans,

So I have been experiencing the same issue. Overheating when flying specifically over Europe, particularly over Italy and the southern Italian airspace.
Hi,uninstall Italy and Malta scenery and all will be good again.

Same issue with PMDG 737-600 and new A320 v2. Also: when multiplayer is turned off it won’t happen and console itself does not seem to be really overheated. It turn off suddenly even despite fans are not working very fast yet. It is sometimes much more hot and fans works noisy when playing for example: Assassin Creed Vallhalla but it not cause overheating.

I’ve had the same issue with overheating and it’s only happened around Italy and Malta. Especially Bolzano airport. How weird.
It’s not the XboxX, it’s the software.
Xbox isn’t even warm when it shuts down, mine is clean and well ventilated.
Just reinstalling Italy/Malta update, Bolzano airport is in it….hmmmm
Flew over Naples for a while with no overheat, after deleting update; just reinstalled it and going back to Naples to see if the thing burns up now.
6 minutes of flawless flight over Naples, no overheat this time. Flew lower and farther than I did without the update.
Delete and reinstall may be the fix
