Xbox: Preventing Uploads of Screenshots While In Flight

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: I’m participating in the betas and am taking screenshots when I come across issues. For some reason the screenshots that I take will not upload to the Xbox Network (and respectively to the Xbox app for retrieval) while actively in a flight.

Typically when you hit the screen capture button on a controller, it’ll say screenshot taken and then within a few seconds (or less than a minute) I get a notification that the screenshot was uploaded.

Currently if I am in a flight, I’ll hit the button as needed and I’ll get a notification that a screenshot was taken, but will not get a notification that it was uploaded to the Xbox network. As soon as I leave my flight and go back to the main menu, or the Xbox Home Screen, I get bombarded with messages saying my screenshots were uploaded to the network.

It seems as though some sort of process while actively flying or in a session prevents Xbox screenshots from being actively uploaded to the network.

This isn’t a big issue, as the screenshots eventually get uploaded, but if I want to screenshot an issue and share it here to the forums to kill time while in flight, it’s not possible. The screenshot typically won’t upload to the network for me to retrieve from the Xbox app until after I have completed my flight.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)? I would say maybe 90% of the time. Sometimes I get a prompt notification that my screenshot was uploaded, but more times than not it doesn’t happen until after I’ve left the flight.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Longitude in free flight, on Xbox Series X
  2. Load in a flight anywhere, and once you’re actively in the aircraft, hit the screenshot button on the Xbox controller
  3. Wait a minute or two. Did you get a notation your screengrabs are available? If not, end the flight back to main menu… you should get notifications from the XBOX UI saying your screenshots have been uploaded to the network

Just guessing, but I suspect they are disabling background uploads to avoid eating up network bandwidth in an attempt to improve performance of the sim.

I haven’t noticed this myself yet, but if it’s working as you described, this is definitely a new behavior. I often upload screenshots as you do as well.

I’ll try it later and report back.
