Thank you for the answer. Good to know it’s the latest version.
And i cannot agree more. This SU15 is so bad so far that i hold off any spendings. I wait and see if they can manage to improve. If not, then it’s over for MSFS on Xbox.
I can’t find much joy in Simming right now. For me THE reason is that i can’t use any LIve traffic. It feels very, very empty without it.
OSL is one of Finn’s (with assistance from Jetstream Designs) so I expect it will get an Xbox release at some point. Same for the currently outstanding Scandinavian airports by Marcus, including the just-released Swedish Trio.
I don’t remember which but there is one Scandinavian airport by Jo Erlund - some of his stuff has never been released for Xbox so whichever it is, it’s pot luck as to whether we’ll see it…
Yes, if SU15 is released in its current state, then there is almost no other choice but to switch to the PC or turn your back on the MSFS completely.
Apart from the hopefully higher stability, the possibility of live traffic with real liveries is also a main reason for me to switch to the PC. I also like the larger selection of add-ons, including more airports.
My problem is that if I switch to the PC, I would immediately want to buy a very good PC configuration (7800x3d + 4080 or 4090). And that won’t be cheap, as we all know.
You know, by the amount of money i have spend on addons (over 150 now, so we are talking about hundreds and hundreds of euros probably close to a thousand) it would be absolutely insane to put that to waste by turning my back on MSFS completely. I’m somewhat " forced" to switch to PC… Been a console gamer my whole life, so the idea scares me a lot.
My opinion? I have no confidence in SU2024 on Xbox. Not with the current hardware. We need at least 32Gigs of RAM…
I now have around 120 airports. And that’s after just one year. There’s no turning back for me either. And when the MSFS works, the simulator is absolutely impressive. For me, the MSFS is a way to explore the world away from traveling. And it’s amazing how well the simulator makes it possible to experience some parts of the world.
But my hopes for the FS2024 are also lower than ever. So yes, I will probably go the PC route too. Even if the PC and add-ons will cost me 4000-5000 euros. And that’s definitely totally crazy. I would never have believed that a year ago.
I remember how impressed I was a few months ago that some people here own around a hundred airports. And now, a few sales later…
I too have put the brakes on any spending and also contemplated going PC.
But surely they won’t leave Xbox and SU15 in this state or it would be a disaster for them.
I hear you. But I rather spend 4000 on the new 77" G4 OLED then on a game PC… How much I love flight simming, I have other interest too.
They should admit that the current Xbox generation isn’t up to the task, instead of making promises they never ever can fulfill.. Remember, addons like airports will only be more demanding from now on. No way Xbox with its limited amount of ram can handle it. Not with bells and whistles like live traffic etc etc running at the same time. Unless they dumb down graphics, lod etc but probably they won’t or can’t do that.
They are going to have to find that happy medium. I can’t imagine how MSFS2024 will be able to work with all the missions and increased graphic load.
Thank goodness we don’t have to buy it on Xbox but can try it for free with GamePass.
One more hope: FS2024. But if that doesn’t address the Xbox issues, I’ll have to seriously consider jumping ship…
Same here. I’d want something pretty future-proof so I’m not upgrading a year or two down the line.
In my experience they’re becoming MORE detailed but LESS demanding. You only need look at Flightbeam’s KMSP, MK’s LEMG and FSimStudios’ CYWG to see that proper optimisation can negate the Xbox memory problems.
Reverted to SU14 as I just seem to keep getting lost in placebos. Bought Ini’s EGNM this evening; in a nutshell, it’s more stable under SU14 than the latest beta. That’s perhaps the exception rather than the rule but there seem to be no distinct patterns dictating what will be better in SU15 and what won’t. The loss of reverse thrust convinced me to back-pedal. I understand the team is doing everything they can to give us Xboxers a stable sim but it’s becoming increasingly clear that it’s not possible to give without the other hand taking.
EGNM is nice. Great interior but the console release features no people and, more unfortunately, empty landside car-parks. It’s pretty stable but I did just manage to BS it with moderate drone use. However, my landing and taxi in using a variety of external views was fine. In the latest beta it BS just before touchdown, every time.
LOD draw distance is quite poor but entirely expected for such a detailed airport.
I’m in a similar position. I love the pick up and go element of Xbox MSFS.
I’m in the latest Beta for SU15 and the improvements in smoothness gives me hope that MSFS 24 will be a good performance boost for Xbox users (as well as PC users) with it’s redesign into a multi threaded SIM.
So KSYR Syracuse (Sierrasim), no good today in SU15 beta in the 738. I’ve had this one for a long time, and I wanted to make a quick run down the Hudson into KEWR (Dz) to see if I get BS on the approach passing NYC Times and NY/NJ Bridges, etc. Well I can’t get this flight started properly even after a restart and reboot. Not that Syracuse will be in great demand, but just sayin! LOL
Just got Orbx’s new Gold Coast by Matteo Veneziani. Orbx’s indy devs are still pushing out some great stuff and this is no exception. There are quite a few lower res textures spread across the scenery but given some of the intricate detail, this can be easily overlooked. Terminal interior is basic and repetitive but the custom vegetation and assets in general around the airfield are among the best I’ve seen. The focus has definitely been on getting the crucial airside and landside outdoor areas loaded with fine detail.
Landed and taxied to stand in exterior view then had the drone out for 20 minutes. All screens still functioning on my return to the flightdeck (PMDG 738).
Promising scenery…
EDIT
Another 7-8 mins with the drone, constantly swapping between it and cockpit view, and still not caving in to black screens. Tried a third time right after two multiplayer aircraft turned up. Black screens almost immediately but back on in literally 20 seconds! Taxied out and departed in external view just as a third player spawned on the runway. Live weather on too but only a handful of low cumulus about. Using SU14 so might be even better in the beta?
Over the moon with it, despite the low-res texturing in places. There are still reasons to love the Xbox experience.
I see BMW/Amsim’s KMIA was also released tonight. Encouragingly the installation size is only just over 2gb, which would make it a download size of little over a gb, if that. Interesting…
Orbx Gladstone. Another stunner from the Orbx Indy devs, however the animated trains seem to trigger blackscreens quite quickly. Certainly not unusable though, even in SU14. Had live weather on but only a few fluffies floating around. Multiplayer also on but no one in the immediate area.
BMOTW’s Bilbao will likely be my final Xbox purchase, although I do plan to use the MP wherever possible for my PC DLC.
Hmmm, BMW/Amsim’s KMIA. Well under SU14 I eventually deleted their KPHX due to BS on every arrival and whatever other issues that just weren’t worth the time. I just reinstalled it while still in SU15 beta and will see how it goes for a while. If it finds a new lease on life on my Xbox, I might just go for KMIA when it goes on sale. With all this said, I finally deleted LVFR KMIA due to it’s not really so great and doesn’t play well with Samscene3D’s Miami anyway. There is a trend here for me away from LVFR to other developers, for example deleted their KSAN. Time will tell but I’m optimistic that SU15 is proving to be helpful to me on my Xbox for 3rd party airports and scenery.
Just done a flight from LEMG (MK) to EGNM (Inibuilds) and had traffic and multiplayer turned off and everything else on and 32gb rolling cache and had black screen after parking at the gate in EGNM. That’s was using the 800 on series X.
