Steam is a different account, so don’t worry about that.
When you fire up the new PC, part of the initial process should be to sign into an account. Sign in with the same account you use on the console. Once you have everything else situated the way you want on your PC, go to the Start menu and find the Store app. If you’re not already signed in, clicking the sign in button should pick up your credentials already stored on the PC and log you in. Search for Flight Simulator and it should pull up the options and show the Premium version as “Owned.” Click install to start installing the core files. After you launch the sim, you’ll then download all the big files. You can choose the default location, or pick something different. Since you say you’re not that experienced with PC’s, I suggest the default location. Start the download, then go get a drink, or supper, or a nap - this process will likely take a while.
Once the big download is done, the sim will proceed to the Home screen. This is where the second part of the download process starts. Go to the Content Manager, and on the left side, check the box for Not Installed to filter for what you own, but isn’t installed. If you’re like me and don’t like all of the Aviator liveries and such, then you’ll need to manually go through and pick what you want. Otherwise, I believe there’s a Select All option somewhere at the top. Once you’ve selected what you want, click the button at the bottom that says either Install or Download - I can’t remember which. Once again, depending on how much you’re getting (you are getting all the World Updates, right?), it’s time to go get another drink/meal/nap.
After that, all that’s left is to go through the settings menus to customize things the way you want, then you’re ready to fly.
I just went through this process a couple of weeks ago when I upgraded from a gaming laptop with mediocre specs to a new desktop (floor actually) PC with some pretty decent specs. The first download was an all-day affair, and the Content Manager was half the next day.
Third-party addon planes that may feature weapons will be purchased outside of the sim and will go into your Community folder. This will be the only real change for you. But that’s really for later. Get the rig delivered and set up, get the sim installed, then we can help you locate and bookmark that Community folder so you can start adding all the other fun stuff that you never had access to on the console.
