Do you ever see it at non-payware airports? Also, which planes are you spawning in?
I tried other payware airports I own and default ones and they were ok and the standard planes I tried was the A310, A320, 747 & 787 and for payware I use the PMSG 737 and Inibuilds A300.
That does seem to be the common factor, in almost all cases. Flying airliners on the Xbox. The complex airports, or perhaps unoptimised ones, just tip it over the edge.
I could see a 16GB PC user getting this more often than a 32GB user as well.
Certainly unoptimised rather than overly complex. Some of the most complex airports actually run flawlessly (or very close to) on Xbox. Which is perhaps the most frustrating part…
And some of them are highly detailed without being very large a file size. Other small commercial airports like PHOG are enormous files(good airport code for it).
KDCA isn’t huge but you can sim yourself into baggage pickup, get some coffee, or watch the trains-and has Crystal City and a bunch of auxiliary areas. Parking garage is packed, etc. (other than those stupid baggage loader animations!-which is what causes any issues really). Need to talk to them about those things.
McCarran without Vegas city is fairly large and has virtually zero load on the system from a default airport, and still has a decent amount of it’s own goodies.
KFLL is another great detail vs load airport, includes the entire harbor and ships.
Santos Dumont SBRJ includes everything re-done in Rio(not even mentioned in the description), full cable car to sugarloaf, oil rig, shipping, etc. Never burps. Absolute hero add-on.
Kingsford Smith/Sydney another awesome one. Even with the Sydney add on scenery and GS it’s never given me a problem. I usually fly VFR sightseeing/floatplanes in that area from Shellharbour, so it’s usually a drop-kick in after an hour-ish flight. I usually take off Kingsford in a heli, so no issues either way.
It definitely can be done. On the other hand, TNCM has some strange Bahamas-triangle in the southwest corner that causes problems, even with the third party add ons. Can’t figure out what the heck is causing BS issues there. It’s at the VOR beacon and casino, not even the apron.
Yes, been problematic for me lately, in SU14, particularly with multiplayer. But for an Asobo hand-crafted airport, it features an unusually high degree of detail.
FYI there is a new beta build for anyone who wishes to join in the testing. A quick look at the release notes suggests to me it may be of interest to many here.
Don’t bother if you want to use Live traffic. It’s disastrous.
1.37.5? It’s still downloading here now. Already disastrous?
Yup. You don’t fly with traffic enabled, I suggest you keep it that way😊
What about AI traffic? It would appear from the notes that they addressed some of our feedback from the past week.
Most of the items are referring to Live Traffic?
Right, nvm!
This live traffic matching liveries isn’t going to work. Just do various stripes and matching tail colors-and windows up close instead of Colorvomit Airlines and call it done.
I hope they fixed MP it’s been borked.
I don’t use live traffic it’s get annoying lining up for takeoff and landing, but to each their own, if they offer it it needs to work. I’ve been having a great time in the beta as such with just AI traffic
As for complex airports not working on Xbox this is mostly due to the airport being released for PC, untested on Xbox and being sold on Xbox. Many complex airports work on console by either proper testing or retrospectively updating the airport for Xbox optimisation. I mostly fly airliners, the PMDG the most complex and detailed airliners works at a lot of complex 3rd party airports. Pyreegue and Inibuilds KLAX are the benchmark for Xbox. They actually work and also look the best. Flytampa usually require an update which sometimes takes months, annoying.
I’d add MK’s LEMG to that pair. And Ini’s EGHI. Since we currently only have the sim’s awful live traffic it’s impossible to say how robust these airports would be if we attempted to use what should now colloquially be known as the ‘four Xbox virtues’ simultaneously. Of all the airports available on Xbox, LEMG is the one I’d have the most faith in if running everything — but until JF’s FS Traffic is released, there’s no way of knowing. I guess the sim’s native AI traffic might serve as some sort of indicator? I’m currently using SU14 and LEMG is fine with heavy weather and MP. Anyone wanna add live traffic and see what happens?
Just to point out here, that Microsobo are one of the worst offenders here - SU-15 and SU16 WU-15 and WU-16 are hot garbage on XBox series X, and virtually unplayable on XBox Series S with any kind of Complex aircraft, and can have an effect on performance and stability even when flying at locations 1/4 of the way around the world from the SU location in memory pressure scenarios…
The whole test & release cycle for XBox addons is frustratingly time consuming and cumbersome for 3rd party developers - as it’s not possible to make small iterative changes and check the effects on console - due to the significant delays to go through the developer beta release process to get the udated addon on to console for testing.
It would appear evidently that 1st / 2nd party developers have it no better - and as a result, SU seem to rely almost completely on feedback from Beta flighting - and WU just get released without any testing and optimisation on or for Xbox.
I know that XBox dev kits have been mentioned as a potential solution in the future for some 3rd party devs… great if that can be implemented - but please… can we start with having proper test and release procedures for the stock sim content produced by 1st and 2nd party studios - especially if that content is going to be released without a beta flight, as is the case for the WU.
Do you mean World Update 16?
Sorry, my typo - should have been WU-15 and WU-16 - have edited my post to fix.
With the latest update today, i fllew from kdca to kjfk in the Cessna Longitude on X box series x. I have both inbuilds airports for kdca and kjf with live traffic on the entire flight. One studder after landing with no black screens. No cache. I restart the sim after each flight. Inbuilds knows how to build optimized airports unlike Fly Tampa.
