Yet Another CTD after SU8

Really completly frustrated with Asobo. I’ve spent a good week on this and I’m about done with it. I’ve literally done EVERYTHYING including random crap that people think solves problems. I really cannot fathom why this application is so completly unstable. I mean… This is worse than the days of FS2004 and random out of memory errors due to 32 bit.

Consistently inconsistent CTDs after the update. NEVER had an issue before. Not related to geographic location, time, settings, addons. But they absolutely will occur.

I would venture to say that most folks post things that fixed these CTD’s for them.
Whether you want to try them is upto you.
Personally I would much rather have them here so they can be tried, then not.

Having said that, did you start with the Troubleshooter for CTD’s?
If you get through this, and no luck, at the bottom of it there are links to the next steps.

Well I question if they’re anecdotal.

Regardless indeed I’ve completed their “checklist” including a “fix” for a similar (old) CTD that was resetting the graphics settings.

Further indeed I have seen the “next steps” that includes a post on the forums so that the “community can assist.” I’ll leave my comments about that out as it’s not constructive.

So now I just have to wait ‘some time’ so that I can submit a support ticket as it should be readily apparent the game itself is the problem here

If cdt just started about the same time as you updated msfs;

I keep my graphics drivers up to date. Nvidia

I’ve added and deleted a few games. Currently I’ve gone through and stopped any and all background services that are not required… as per the checklist

The only “app” I had added new was the in game pushback app. Regardless again I’ve deleted my “community” folder. Gone one by one with them. It will CTD with nothing in there.

It’s been awhile since I played with it. Probably around January or February that I’d attempted some flights with it. So it is possible it was a prior update that caused them and did not catch it.

Before I get roasted for it, indeed I was a hardcore FS fan as a kid and young adult. Had my first RL landing thanks to FS. Got back into with MSFS 2020 was announced only to be completely sold on XPlane for an actual stable simulator. I keep trying to come back as Asobo is working on things and I’ve got a fair few dollars invested that continually appears to have been a giant mistake.

EDIT: and it seems there a newer driver available for your OMEN, may be check too… ( e.g. sound, but seems others too )… must not cause the issue, but we know the trouble which outdated realtek drivers can cause.

No map (ortho) mods
I’ve had CTDs in safe mode

I will try a chipset update though I highly HIGHLY doubt that’s the problem.

This is my issue with this game. I have no other issues with any other software, games, actual simulators (XPlane, P3D). Hell I had a few CTDs with XPlane and was able to trace it back to a mod that needed updated. No issues after!

There’s literally no error reporting… also, why is the base engine this unstable?! No wonder no one wants to develop anything complex for this. It’s a nightmare just trying to use it let alone develop for it!

Such CTD’s also in Safe mode is ( beside of the persistent changes the mentioned google add-on do in hosts file ) often caused by users system issue, because vanilla MSFS works usually well. Unfortunately its often not easy to find… it can be a windows update, driver issue, anti-virus-tool, firewall, hardware ( try the usually limit of fps to 30 ), device-issues ( powered usb-hub ) sometime also the shadercache ( clean in windows and may be in nvidias dxcache folder ), and on… Of course is a in-game issue allways possible, but as example “still zero CTD on my side”.
