Yet another CTD thread

After a few months of not playing (while still having MSFS installed through Steam) I tried coming back a few weeks ago, but experiencing constant CTDs mainly (but not exclusively) on the world map, as well as during the loading screens, and in-game before pressing the “ready to fly” button.

I think I have tried almost everything:

My specs:
RTX 3080 FE (10gb)
Ryzen 5 5600
Asus Prime X370 Pro
2x16 Corsair Vengance 3000mhz, cl16
No OC or XMP active.

What I’ve tried:

  • Uninstalled then reinstalled MSFS.
  • Windows (10) is up to date, however I will rather fly FSX than try Windows 11.
  • Tried the time setting synchronization thing.
  • Reinstalled the Nvidia drivers, including with DDU, also tried the last three versions, currently on 546.17.
  • Removed everything from the community folder.
  • Nuked the whole system, formatted the ssds and reinstalled everything from scratch. Tried with only the Nvidia driver, Steam and msfs installed.
  • Tried turning the rolling cache on / off / clearing it.
  • Reinstalled VC++
  • Added 64gb pagefile on an ssd.
  • Disabled and uninstalled discord and any overlay programs.
  • Reinstalled audio drivers.
  • Added the us system locale and voice language pack (how is this even relevant?)
  • Disconnected all usb devices like rudder pedals and hotas and vive.
  • Uninstalled/reinstalled their respective drivers, tried flying with just kb+m.
  • Removed the AppData\Local\FlightSimulator folder (well even though wiping Windows already did that).
  • Tried in DX11 and DX12 as well.
  • Tried with and without DLSS.
  • Tried with and without Nvidia reflex low latency.
  • Tried in windowed and fullscreen mode as well.
  • Tried in ultra, but in low settings as well.
  • Disabled data streaming.
  • (and possibly even more…)

I attached a few log files and reports that I saw being asked in the forms in regards to CTDs:

ErrorReportingInfo.txt (1.1 KB)
EventViewerError.txt (650 Bytes)
EventViewerError2.txt (651 Bytes)
EventViewerInformation.txt (1.1 KB)
MSFSReport.txt (19.9 KB)
MSFSReport2.txt (22.9 KB)

Looking for more ideas to try, cheers!

Same here but I believe it caused by Xbox servers that are having problems.
So several cloud services are not available.
Did you also got connection errors ingame?

Same problems here. Today 3 CTD on world map screen. I started to have this kind of problem since a week or so - possibly related to the last sim update…

Looks like a possible Xbox Server issue. My sim rapidly says connected.. then disconnected. Minutes later it crashes

No, I didn’t have a single connection error popup in the last few weeks. Know what these are, and they happened from time to time, but I absolutely do not remember a single one recently.

Hi,

You may try to uninstall all world updates as well as all city updates.

I had a vanilla installation of MSFS without anything from the Content manager and all was well. After downloading everything from the Content manager the CTDs reappeared.
It is possible that one or more of these items from the Content manager do not mix well with my addon airports in my Community folder.

OMG, so many CTDs today, with so many planes, A339s, 787-10s, and the ever trustworthy PMDGs 737. Tme to watch the games. I cannot believe this!

Same here, I thought it maybe Virtual Desktop and my Quest 3, but I CTD today and they were not even running

Turn off Bing maps. It. Seems to be the work around for most of us.

Those CTDs starts for me after WU15. I uninstalled WU15 from my pc and everything is back to normal, no CTD at all.

I tried uninstalling (and not even installing) every WUs on two occassions, it wasn’t the issue for me.

Well I’ll be d@mned, this might be it!:open_mouth:

Such a pity that it looks below FSX level atrocious without it.. At this point, I’ll might just go and buy X-plane in the meanwhile.
