This was a 1-hour flight in the powrachute-sky-rascal
We’ve driven into the park and parked our truck & trailer at the parking lot off Northside drive by the Yosemite Lodge. Unloading the Powrachutes, we wheeled them into Leidig Meadow for take-off:
After take-off, we followed the Merced River to take in the sights of Half-Dome:
We continue past Half-Dome and up Tenaya Creek, past West Quarter Dome, and reverse course around Mount Watkins. This shot was taken by Lehamite Falls:
Flying back along the valley’s north side, we turn round again past El Capitan. This shot was taken as we passed Higher Cathedral Spire:
Checking out the sheer side of El Capitan for climbers. Alas, there were none:
We descend and head up the center of Yosemite Valley. Lower Cathedral Rock is in the background:

We are enveloped in the shade of Sentinel Rock:

Yes we can!:
Two of us will stow the chutes. One of us is going to have to walk back to the carpark at Yosemite Lodge & drive back with truck & trailer:
Once done, I stroll down to the Merced River. Looking east up the valley from Sentinel Bridge:
and north to Yosemite point:
Another fine day’s gliding. Now for the long drive to the coast and home…

Beautiful adventure in a wonderful landscape !
I love Sky Rascal, it’s a very different experience from airplanes, slower but more contemplative with total immersion. A must try.

Cool idea to visit this (awesome) place with a Powrachute. If you can, wait some days for the release of CLI4D Yosemite

This is what the top of Half Dome looks like? How can this be improved on. Virtually no
texture. Where is the rock texture?
