Your Current TOP 10 Aircraft (Part 1)

January 2024 top used.

  1. Fenix A320

  2. Leonardo Maddog, somehow feels most complete, and is a joy to fly.

  3. Asobo ATR72, use it much more since latest update.

  4. Inibuilds A300. Has potential.

  5. Justflight Bae 146. I love the Jumbolino.

  6. Justflight F28

  7. Blackbox Sim Trislander

  8. PMDG 737 700

  9. FSS P2012 Traveller

  10. Marwan Gharib HJet

Same list for me this month:

  • Big Radials JRF-6B Goose
  • PMDG 737-600
  • JustFlight BAe-146
  • Flysimware Cessna 414A
  • Asobo/Aeroplane Heaven DC-3 (with Duckworks mod)
  • PMDG DC-6
  • GotFriends PZL-104 Wilga
  • FSReborn Sting S4
  • FlyingIron Spitfire
  • Asobo/Carenado Beech 18 (with Denarq mod)

Me too. I prefer Airliners in general but this plane is a delight (as long as you prepare it with the light liveries  on Xbox). It’s got great Navigraph and Simbrief integration too - among the best!

  1. The Flysimware Learjet 35A
An early access product that is already better than several finished add-ons, and has already received more updates than all the products of several other devs combined (Hello DC Designs). The Lear is super amazing but I have
a biased opinion so I guess it is only amazing.
  2. Horizon Simulations B787-900
Unsure why there is a lot of fuzz about ā€œotherā€ 787s or the PMDG 777 when we already have this. Ok I’m also getting that 777 the minute it is released but we do have a nice long-hauler for MSFS and it works very well.
  3. FBW A320NX
This should include the A330Neo, A321Neo and other Neos based on this. Being open-source it opened the doors to all these other very nice Neos we can also fly with the same excellent quality as in the 320.
  4. Heatblur / IFE F-14 Tomcat
A really remarkable plane, the flight model is terrific. I hope, hope, hope they add the night mode to the plane because it will look amazing.
  5. Cockspur Phenom 100
A very nice VLJ for short business hops, flight model seems to be very nice and it has the WT G1000 so avionics are great, graphics and sounds are good too. I like it more than the Hondajet and on a similar level as the Vision.
  6. Ant’s CAC-25 Winjeel
Underrated product, great FM, sounds are from the real aircraft and really excellent, systems are very deep, graphics are great, cockpit lighting is terrific including UV lighting done in the right way (JF take notes).
  7. The Comanche 250
It is a great GA plane indeed with a very special flight model and very very complete systems.
  8. Redwing L-1049 Super Constellation
It is a remarkable add-on and very different to many others but I will drop it from my list for good unless a Bataan livery is released, only two of these marvels are still flying, why can’t we have both in the sim?
  9. The TBM 850
Flawless, a very nice plane to fly and I enjoy it every time I fly it.
  10. FSReborn M500
About to drop from the top10. Sorry guys but CWS is an important missing system in this plane.

My hall of shame for this edition:

  • GKS F111
why did I buy this? It has so many, so many missing features, like a navigation system for example. For the price or the FSR500 or the TBM850 we got a DC-designs style plane that can burn fuel on fire.
  • Cowan R66 Turbine or not
They will keep releasing helis without SAS, Autopilot or modern avionics because people will buy those anyway. This is a complete shame. Another couple of incomplete products from this dev while the others are never being updated.

And my weird-forgotten-unsung gems section:

  • Rara Avis Electric Wren
A weird glider with a motor and it is a lot of fun to fly. Many people don’t even know this exists.
  • Redwings Bugatti
A very strange plane that is very fast, has a lot of personality and now very nice sounds, graphics are very nice.

Ugh, you guys keep getting me raising my eyebrow about that fugly Winjeel, and I’m on a taildragger kick lately… And that Bugatti that’s been in my wishlist for a while, looks like something for an evening full of hold-my-beer annoying fellow MP pilots in the landing patterns.

@Baracus250, I didn’t realize you’re splitting up the PMDG 737s into different variants as the prior list lumped them together. I have both the 737 and 739, but to keep to the max 10 aircraft, I’ll just count the 737 version and remove the 739. Just wanted to make sure this was counted correctly!

Its a really nice little airplane. And the price is not bad at all.

The January 2024 Chart Results are in!

:drum: :drum: :drum: Drum roll please… the moment we have been waiting for is here, as the first results of a new start are counted. Thank you to all the 42 of ya that kicked this off for the fresh start!

:speech_balloon: ====== MY SUMMARY ====== :speech_balloon:
This is interesting. For me it has validated that the last state of 2023 is really not so unrealistic and was a true reflection of how things still are, 1.5+ years after I started this topic. Having said that is is great to have this shuffle up and I can’t wait to see how it pans out over the next months and what new treats we may have in store to add to our Bulging Hangars!

The BB310R is still clearly very deserving of it’s award. As is the Arrow series and of course the PMDG 737’s. Our runaway winner from the previous 2 Award Ceremonies still also can have no shame in the podium position so far and looks like it will still be solidly in the fight this year too.

Biggest climbers are the Avro Vulcan and the Learjet 35A.

A few new mentions of slightly older aircraft by Cutlass172 (Cera’s Mi-17 and Shavrov Sh-2), and myself actually (the Nardi Riviera).

There were 7 NEW aircraft mentioned this month, highest entry being the iniBuilds A300 in 49th place:

Developer Aircraft
iniBuilds Airbus A300-600R
Cockspur Embraer Phenom 100
A1R Design Shavrov Sh-2 amphibian
Cera Simulations Mil Mi-17
Mario Noriega Nardi FN-333 Riviera
Cowan Sims Robinson R66
LatinVFR Airbus A320neo

Total planes mentioned now at 299! But of course, over half have no votes since the reset.

Remember to DOWNLOAD the PDF to see the rest as there are quite a few with equal votes that did not fit into the Top 25 snapshots here.

FINAL NOTE: The next Chart Update will be done on 3rd March as that is the nearest Sunday to the end of the month

Actually, they are counted separately but bundled into a single row for the table. People wanted to see which variant was most popular so at the end of the PDF you will see this:

And I take the total from that into the main table (i.e 17 now).

Highly recommend it! Feels very nice indeed

Did they fix up that bad loop? I did not see any updates. Must try it again! It was pretty fun but didn’t really capture me. Love how it looks though!

I like anything that acts like it does plane stuff when you do pilot stuff, so the Winjee will also likely be added to my ever growing collection of ā€˜I have all the planes I need’ hangar. Something tells me a near full deflection slip is something this is likely aces at. Plus it’s ugly enough and named alphabetically for an impossibly perfect spot next to Wilga-COINCIDENCE!? I think NOT.

LOL good point well made!!

Should the Wren also go there? Probably yup!!

Ah I missed it again…I was hoping I would manage to get a list in this month  :see_no_evil: Next month I’ll be earlier!

Thank you for your work making these lists! It’s one of my favorite topics on here =)

Yep, missed this month, but looks like I have four more weeks to do my first Top 10 list…

Nice January touchpoint listing.

-I got the A2A Comanche not long after my end of 2023 rankings. Not the prettiest thing design-wise, but man oh man, what an amazing plane. Definitely in my top 3.

-Something tells me I’m going to have to get the SWS C414…just keeps ranking too high for me to ignore. Love the Black Square Baron as my twin recip workhorse, but gotta try this soon.

-I bought the ATR right when it came out many months ago (was super cheap at the time), flew a single airfield pattern with it, never touched it until yesterday when I tried to do a cold/dark startup, but then got sidetracked. Guess I’ll need to get down the learning curve one of these days.

-Am I unreasonable to not be particularly interested in any G1000 planes? I far prefer the much-smaller GTN750 (I have the PMS50 premium version). Give me touch screens over spinning knobs any day. And yes, sometimes I cheat and use the top menu popout of the GTN for flight planning in a G1000 plane…much easier to type.

I’m guessing you must do those place change markers manually because that red one for Fenix threw me for a moment there .

Actually surprised the Fenix jumped up so much even though the long promised update has not yet arrived.

Yes sorry. I’ll fix that in the morning!!

I personally also much prefer the old school panel and GTN 750 over those glass cockpits. By the way, I don’t know if you are already aware of this feature on WT instruments that allows you to use the keyboard instead of knobs. It’s appreciable when it comes to setting the flight plan, but for the rest of the menus, you still have to deal with knobs…

Me too. Steam gauges plus the GTN 750 is the ultimate sim combo for me :ok_hand: I’m no pilot, but IRL I’m pretty sure the G1000 would be much better though. Touchscreens are hard to use when there’s a lot of movement.

The GTN 750 is very nice but I find it a little too fancy and I doubt you will see a lot of C152:s with this setup IRL.

I’ve actually gone back to the old GNS 530. It’s surprisingly capable with everything you really need and it doesn’t feel misplaced in a 50 year old Piper like the GTN 750 does. The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t support airways which means you have to do a lot of twisting and turning on the rotary knobs while setting up your flight.

Well XB doesn’t have the GTN750. While I’m not a huge fan of glass cockpits, I’m pretty reserved to using G1000 aircraft, the G3000 is ā€˜better’, but a bit too whiz-bang for me. Personally I like flying the Steam/GNS planes the best, but won’t kick my #1 Kodiak out of bed because of it. I’m pretty reserved to one favorite per envelope with the G1000, and the SR22 now takes up a broad swath of it, once in a while I take the Barron out for something simple. So usually SR22/Kodiak/C510(likely to become the P100 soon) are go-tos, and the rest are steam/gtn or steam only including modern and vintage, with an occasional CJ Proline kick, and modern airliners just for achievements if I’m bored.

The G3X better be in a good flight model to warrant dealing with it, it’s ā– ā– ā– ā–  right now. Usually reserved for the RV’s using the backup HSI more than the screens. I’d love to have the GTN though, probably the best balance of tech and steam.
