Your Current TOP 10 Aircraft (Part 2)

Hi, I don’t own the MD-11 but the L-1011 is perhaps just emerging from something like an early access state, albeit undeclared, so not really a top anything candidate yet except for maybe nostalgia value.

Thank you!

The MD-11 is much further in it’s development and is in a better overall state, but it’s also a very different aircraft compared to the L-1011 despite both being a trijet.

Hi,

I love browsing the database - great work by all concerned. Do you think it may be possible in the future to include a filter that shows if the aircraft is available via the Marketplace?

Thanks!

Everything is possible but I’d need to find a reliable source of this info so I can assign the data correctly. Do you know if this is complete anywhere?

Fs addon seem to be getting the info from somewhere, worth an ask?

I’m happy to help if I can. It may be somewhat manual but the again I’m retired so I have time to support the cause.

I appreciate your offer to help!

I have been discussing this with my programmer and yes, it’s possible but he pointed out that the main barrier will be how we want to display it. My fear is it’s going to start word wrapping in an awkward way soon, especially when viewing on a phone

The columns are already getting pretty many to display width-wise on screen and if we do add this information, I think we would need to distinguish between marketplace for PC / Xbox / PS5 which does complicate the display of it a big, for it to remain intuitive and useful. Also puts more of a burden on ongoing verification / management of the data input

I also wonder if, at the same time, there is any further information we’d like per aircraft. The current “2024 Career Mode Compatible” is an item that is also not really accurate right now, as I don’t know them all (I only apply that check mark if I am easily certain that they are compatible) and my call for assistance didn’t go anywhere to fill that out fully.

There is the option to have this extra detail on a page per aircraft (and still allow to filter on it but not display that Column in the main tables) but not sure that is user friendly?

Hi,

Thanks for taking such an interest. I think a filter would be great to start with. Personally, I find reviews in general really frustrating as they don’t mention Marketplace availability (planned or current). I’m trafy to buy it, then there’s the realisation that you can’t :worried:

PS5 has added an unfortunate level of complexity, however, in the long run I think it would add value to brilliant DB that you’ve created.

PS. I did try and find some data sources or legal ways of accessing the MP but the one used in 2020 has been removed so manual updates may be the only way forward. It may be a bit of a pain initially but after that it’s just keeping on top of the weekly updates

I was wondering if I could screen cap every page of planes in the MP. Then use some OCR & AI to build the list.

like I said, happy to help going forwards.

It’s been a very, very long time since I’ve posted my list, but, here it is.

1 Focke-Wulf FWP.149
2 DHC-2 Beaver
3 Piper PA-28 Warrior
4 Goodyear FG-1D Corsair
5 Grumman AA-5B Tiger
6 Lockheed P-38 Lightning
7 Republic P-47 Thunderbolt
8 Boeing B314
9 DH.98 Mosquito
10 North American B-25 Mitchell

The Piaggio P.149 is still my favorite by far, the Beaver a close second. Piper Warriors I fly for real, so I like that a lot. The Corsair and P-38 are my favorite WWII aircraft followed closely by tens of others that I wish I could learn to fly. If i don’t buy a real P.149 someday, I’d love to get a Grumman Tiger or Navion, or Beaver.. tho the Beaver is way out of my price range. A Seabee would do, too . I’m fascinated by 30’s aviation and find the B314 so romantic. The last two are of the current moment mostly because they are new, and many different aircraft fight for those two slots, such as the T-34, Staggerwing, WACO YMF-5, P-26, F7F Tigercat, Storch, Ercoupe, Tiger Moth, Jenny, L-19, Chipmunk, and many others.

Edit: BTW, this is for both 2020 and 2024

No changes for me this month. thks.

So being the retired lazy type I no longer fly for work and mostly VFR

1). Icon A5, Great cockpit visibility despite numerous short comings
2). Cirrus SR22T, Great for night flying regardless of weather
3). Diamond DA42 Twin Star. Nice for leisurely trips when not in a hurry.
4). Diamond DA62 When family wants to ruin your weekend by coming along.
5). Cirrus Vision Jet G2+ Good for quick short hops.

Thank you for your votes! Is this the COWS one (just checking)?

Yes, it is an outstanding aircraft

  1. PMDG 737 800, been flying the 800 a lot

  2. PMDG 737 700, been messing around with old 700 routes and enjoy the size of the 700

  3. Fenix a321/a319, been enjoying the a321 the most because I don’t fly the normal a320

  4. default carbon cub (taildragger) been enjoying this little plane testing to see what it can do

  5. DeHavilland Caribou (Local legend) been actually flying this because I was experimenting with it’s capabilities again

  6. default cessna 408, been enjoying the Cessna 408 and having fun with this aircraft

  7. Carenado beech 200, been enjoying this kingair, love the sound of this aircraft

  8. Cowan bell 222UT, my go to heli because of its range and speed

  9. NextGen embrear 110, good in fs2024 but missing career mode support

  10. Carenado Cessna 207, good aircraft very fun to fly, missing career mode supporT

with all these business jets coming out I’m still waiting for regional jets I could use in career mode

You also seem to be a fan of composite construction. Just a coincidence?

So I’m deleting the others? You don’t recommend them any more? They are suddenly useless and bad?

More to follow…

Just fly for fun now. Like up to date Aircraft and Avionics
