Hear hear! I think it’s fun to try out every possible type of aircraft, and do lush scenic VFR with intense weather visuals dialed in. If MSFS had some autogyros and dirigibles, my life would be complete.
Yeah! Forgot to mention the weather, pretty incredible white knuckle experience can be had, breaking in and out of clouds, getting tossed around, approaches to minimums. All I’m missing is a 6DOF platform and I would probably have PTSD and need therapy after some of those flights.
I’ve done some pretty stupid stuff flying VFR in intense weather.
I’ve been on the fence with buying this one. Saw one YT review where they complained a bit about pitchiness and sensitivity to cross-winds. However, I recently noticed that they have updated the FM on this nicely modeled composite bird. Have you/anyone else noticed any significant flight issues with the latest iteration?
Or they are spending so much time just flying their busses from point A to point B that there’s no t enough time to be messing around in forums!
I flew it a couple of weeks ago and didn’t notice anything bad. I’ve seen there was a recent update but not tried that yet. I’d expect it to be quite sensitive to winds though? I mean as you said it’s Carbon so only weighs about the same as a chess piece
EDIT: I think it’s one of the must have addons if you like little planes. But a massively overlooked (but similar) plane is the Stream Ultralight by LightSim. I really like that one too. Not as much systems depth / no failures etc but is a great handling and unique thing. Might be worth a looksie?
I updated to the latest revision and flew it once in the northern California mountains last week. It flew wonderfully, but I wasn’t in strong cross-wind conditions. It didn’t have the yaw oscillations it had on my previous flights though. So maybe that was something they improved.
Forums whether it is car, computer, conspiracy or game - rarely if ever are a true representation of the actual population they are meant to be representing.
Thank you for that update! My hand is only an inch above the “golden-buzzer” now! I am also taking a closer look at the Stream Ultralight, per Baracus250’s recommendation.
Just some FYI, I attempted a take-off in my little Robin 400 from Ford Island, Hawaii yesterday and met with almost instant death. I read on the news today that they had gusts up to 60mph over there. I don’t feel quite so down-trodden, now. I don’t think I’d try that in a bona-fide ultralight, though.
Well, don’t have my February top ten list ready yet but…
yeah my GA flights are short also given that the transition to and from cruise and the takeoffs and landings are the most challenging and interesting part. I find it fascinating to depart a Los Angeles basin airport and head North or South and just land at all the familiar airports along the way, being amazed at how realistic it compares to real life experience.
At some point I’m sure I will want mission specific flights to keep things interesting, like flying cargo or passengers to destinations in Alaska or the South Pacific islands using the Kodiak, Beaver, DC-3 or even the DC-6 or 737F.
EDIT: OR of course using the Wilga flying supplies to those homesteaders living out in the wild in Alaska, or carrying hunters/fishermen on a hunting/fishing expedition landing on river banks and sand bars.
I think (hope) there is gonna be a real trend towards that kind of content this year. The next NeoFly app and next update to SkyPark are due — which also sounds interesting (passengers, not sure how it will be implemented yet though). And I assume cargo is gonna happen too as it’s just “the same but different”.
It takes some clever developers though as the tools provided are still pretty lacking I think. I expected the new legacy missions they put out in the 40th anniversary update would open things up but they really are just like the bush trips in essence. Nothing new that focussed on tasks to complete. Unless I missed something. I’m more than happy tootling about and making my own goals and plans of course but for a change it would be nice to have some kind of career / progression system you can chip away at in between the sandboxy stuff. Nothing as serious as a VA for me, just some variety and maybe things that force you to use aircraft you wouldn’t normally use.
Yes good idea — but that would mean, actually you know… owning it first
…or have you finally caved?!
I suppose you could do your fishing in the BR Goose that has a rod
haha…haven’t caved yet, just from a rebellious nature being of Irish/Scottish descent (the worst possible combination!) But it’s inevitable unless I want to miss out on all the fervor surrounding the Willy.
Ohhhh, I forgot about the BR Goose, I got that one but only flew it once, took off from Long Beach airport and landed in the harbor and then returned. A lot of fun! Probably in the top ten, just need to fly it more first, which is the problem…too many great aircraft, not enough time to fly them all.
Can’t get a slot at the airport? doesn’t matter!
I do actually fly it from airfield to airfield as well as exploring lakes, given it’s less hassle than the 247 & the Beech 18 is sadly not enough.
For me, the S4 is an immaculately modeled plane which handles quite nicely, and has some unique wear and maintenance features. I enjoy flying it, and it’s well worth the price!
Didn’t know about the Stream Ultralight either… Will have to take a look!
The Sting S4 is my absolute favourite UL/Recreational Aircraft in game and well worth the money.
However if your after something pretty good and totally free - pick up the Van’s RV7/RV7A package from Deejing
- P-38L - an around the world flight perhaps?
- F-104G - a rocket ship that is a challenge to fly, different worlds to the tail draggers on this list
- Spitfire Mk 1a - such a smooth ship to fly, absolutely nothing in common with the F-104G
- F6F Hellcat - love the prop sounds… well done to Flying Iron
- P-40F - early access and has been well supported, just a great marriage of Merlin and P-40
- MD 500E - first helo I have enjoyed in the sim. if it looks right it is right
- DC-6 - fun for the long hauls
- DC-3 - a different kind of fun for the long haul and just classic
- P-51D - always fun to fly with the canopy open
- FG-1D /F4U-1D - a handful, but I have it down, dont see too many out there
Not really in any particular order, but I have been enjoying these aircraft the most. Especially happy with the warbirds in particular, but that F-104G is special, and the new 500E is a fun choppa

Hey thanks for the votes. Need some clarification…
iniBuilds one?
Aeroplane Heaven or Asobo one?
The F-model with the Merlin engine is iniBuilds. The one from Big Radials is the B-model and uses an Allison engine.
By the way, question to those who have flown both: which one do you prefer and why? I’m loving the B-model and have seen some things about the iniBuilds version that put me off, but I’ve never actually tried it.
I know but he mentioned early access which I wasn’t aware that the ini one had, so thought there may be something I’ve missed. I assigned the vote to ini’s anyway unless I hear otherwise. Thx
Right! I missed that bit. Interested to see if there’s another P40 in the works.
