Ok, think I’ll shuffle them a bit. And look - after flying the latest v48 around NZ a bit, the 160 made it in.
1 - A2A Comanche
2 - Tiger Moth
3 - C-160 Transall ( skips over the 146 because it has a better FMS now )
4 - JF 146
5 - BS King Air ( lightly modded )
6 - C414 ( lightly modded )
7 - HPG Airbus H160 - a new entry! still some room for improvement but there is a lot of room for improvement in the MSFS helicopter model.
8 - Cowan 500E ( lightly modded )
Ok - my November list is decided as I am not dropping more $$ unless a good Black Friday sale forces me to buy
I’ll give explanations for a change too
A2A Comanche - This is an incredible airplane. Flies beautifully. Their decisions on how to implement failures, walk around, and engine management is second to none.
FSR500 - This one is only slightly below the Comanche. Flight model doesn’t hit me quite as convincing as that aircraft. Some very very small Nichols but otherwise a near-perfect product. The default paint schemes leave a bit to be desired and state saving for switches is absent. But like the Comanche the failures are baked in if you check off all the realism boxes. Nothing like having fuel lines freeze at 28,000 feet!
FSW 414AW. Their fuel management computer simulation is worth the price of admission! And it allows me to run dual GTNxi units. Everything is cool on this aircraft. Particular credit for the sound package and engine simulation. Maybe a bit too nimble for the size and lacks the realism features of the other two offerings.
GotFriends Wilga - just plain fun and great visuals and sound to boot. Suffers from exaggerated torque/P factor and crosswind like many MSFS aircraft. But still pretty awesome.
Blackbird 310R - close to the 414. Great sounds and nice wear and tear. Flies better with the latest patch.
JF Arrow/Turbo Arrow. - serious flaws in crosswind handling on the ground? Check. Practically no failures of engine? Check. Tablet that needs a lot of work? Check. But outside of those areas it’s a terrific aircraft to fly and landing just feels correct to the actual aircraft. Some of the visuals inside need updating and the autopilot sometimes screws up but it works well overall.
SWS Kodiak 100 - flight model needs some work. If an aircraft was this difficult to fly at 20kts above stall it’d be grounded. Otherwise terrific.
Parallel 42 Kitfox - the 915 is way too powerful. Climb at 2000fpm is reasonable, but I can rise at 4000 in this thing. Otherwise I still dig it.
Asobo 172. Does the job.
152 with the mod. Nice touches on interior options but flight model seems a bit off.
I may have been too optimistic with the 310R. After doing a couple flights this morning in it, I’m finding the flight model to be a bit too twitchy. Still top 10 but falls lower on my list. Don’t think that’s relevant to the overall numbers that are being compiled.
Nice list. Agree 100% with your comments on the Arrows, and the same could apply to their Warrior. A few months ago I started a Neofly career with the Warrior with plans on upgrading to the Arrow and eventually the Kodiak, but I just can’t continue it due to the PA-28’s performance in anything but perfectly calm conditions. Currently Carenado’s Archer is my go-to for a simple local flight.
After a little chat with Mr Cowan, added a bit more MoI ( and reduced the rate it trims too but I do that for most things ). Amazing flow now, it’s what put it in the list.
If you’re referring to the Selway Lodge vid, that was done with BBX’s v1 Islander mostly as is ( I probably modded the trim to run a bit slower & maybe edited some seat positions ). For fun & interest I did start a totally new FM when I got a bit annoyed at v2 but I’ve not had the time, health or enough data to finish it properly - Graham has data I’d imagine, it’s pretty ok to fly other than it being so nose heavy on the ground ( and I don’t think they drop a wing in the stall like it does either, just kinda mushes down like a PA28. That’s anecdotal though, I’ve never been in a stalling Islander! ). Anecdotally the trim change with flaps is a bit off too but that’s something I don’t have data for to know what it should actually do.
