Hardly any time to fly this month. The Miltech CH-47D is my new entry for this month, otherwise the list stays the same. The Chinook is a big old truck with a beautiful vintage cockpit. Picking up external loads is fun! Miltech have already implemented the new multi-rotor flight model from SU15 and are only waiting for the public release. Seems like we will get an auto pilot with that update as well!
Besides trying the new Chinook, I am still on my Norway trip in the FSR500. Perfect plane for me at the moment!
Your #1, BKSQ Analog Caravan, is vastly underrated. Great plane for an Alaska bush trip or a circuit around an island. Nice visibility, short runway-capable. I know the similar SWS Kodiak is on a lot of Top Tens, but Iām just not a fan of the G1000 knob spinning, so prefer this plane with the GTN750.
Just three things with this plane: 1) donāt overspeed, 2) Donāt Overspeed, and 3) DONāT OVERSPEED! Ask me how I knowā¦
Sorry to hear that⦠hope things are getting better!
You can always find the latest info in Post 1. And the last update post is available if you click SOLUTION at the end of that post, it will jump you to the last update.
But I copy both tables and PDF into Post 1 anyway.
I just bought it last night and find it harder to fly than the Cabri G2. Iām like a noisy pendulum all over the sky!
I think I need to have my own custom Xbox controller helicopter profile, or modify the one provided by the game. Using the standard controls works pretty well, but I think I need to adjust the sensitivity settings. The ābespokeā controller profile is okay, but I need to work with it more before I feel comfortable with it.
Falling in love with Simworks Studios PC-12 here. Love how it feels. PC-12 in the real world is a rather large aircraft. And I think that heavier feeling is simulated quite well with the SWS PC-12 in the sim.
Happy Landings
This month Iāve played around a bit with the Cabri, doing some sightseeing over various PG cities, which was fun.
I then did a VFR tour around Ukraine with the Turbo Arrow. I spent quite a bit of time with this, planning each leg on LNM and using VOR, NDB and visual landmarks to navigate. I usually have LNM running when I fly but this time I turned off the sim connection once Iād planned the route, forcing me to navigate properly just using the radios and instruments and eyeballing out the windows. It was good to remove the safety net, something I hadnāt thought much about before and the Arrow was excellent for this.
Spent quite a bit of time in the Wilga doing the Gran Canaria and Pyrenees bush strips and again wondered why I donāt spend more time in it.
Finally bought the Winjeel and Iāve been blown away by it, what a superb plane! I love the cockpit, itās got an agricultural feel, almost like a Land Rover, which is strange because I canāt stand Land Rovers (outside of their intended use). The sound design is excellent, customisable and I keep cracking the window to get the sound of the engine. Iām part way through a tour of southern France taking in smaller airfields and grass strips and just about to wind my way carefully through the western Alps. The flight model is lovely, making it really enjoyable to pootle around in and look at the landscape, although Iāve been caught out a couple of times being too slow and dropping a wing.
The package, including the manual is just such good value, so thanks to Baracus for providing this space and contributors for the excellent recommendations.

GotFriends DoubleEnder
BN2 Islander
Denarq Mod - Beech 18
SWS RV14
Milviz Corsair
JPL C152
C172 Bagolu
The DoubleEnder (a new purchase) has replaced the Zenith for bush flying. The BS Bonanza has dropped off the list because I always just pick the Comanche instead now. And the Kodiak has been dropped due to the fact it doesnāt fly right - doesnāt adhere to phugoid motion making it a weird plane to hand fly.
Yeah!!! Itās bloomingā great! Have you tried some aerobatics in it yet? That brings the best out of the flight model. It just reacts SO WELL at the extremes (and over)⦠no weirdness, just a really convincing way it snaps, spins and stalls. Itās definitely one of the best physics Iāve ever felt in a sim! Totally love it. High quality product!
The what now?
Is this a new thing? Payware? Do we really need another A320?
(ā¦please fill me in as to what I should put on the charts row, I know next to zero about tubes - Thanks!)
If you trim for level flight and let go of the elevator, if the nose goes up a bit, it should come back down by itself as the airspeed bleeds off and as it goes down and the airspeed increases, the nose should come back up - phugoid motion. The Kodiak doesnāt do that. The nose goes up more as the airspeed bleeds off, or down more as the airpseed increases. Itās weird and I donāt like it.
