Now now i may not like VR but i don’t rubbish it, each to their own
And you do realise that proper airline pilots don’t fly VR to train, technically it is 2d with a huge cockpit around them, must tell them they playing a huge video game
You don’t have to and I certainly don’t. Once established in the climb, I switch out of VR and manage the aircraft in 2D until late descent and do other desktop stuff. Takeoffs and landings are so immersive in VR and with the latter it is much easier to judge the flare because you are “in” the aircraft.
You’re right. If I were to be ignorant I would say that it’s actually the opposite of what Sim4good said. Serious simmers use 2D and gamers use VR where you can fly fast in canyons without caring about regulations, airspace and ATC. However, I think we should all be more mature and realize that we can not generalize like that.
Let me remind everyone, this is from the Forum Standard Operating Procedures:
- One World, One Community - No matter how you play – regardless of platform, experience level, or reason – we are one community of aviation lovers.
Airline Flight Simulators are designed to fly instrument and full simulate the cockpit equipment and systems. They are not designed for VFR and accept the limitations as such.
2D you don’t have real depth of field, which is very important for landing and other critical flight maneuvers. VR use in a simulated cockpit allows you to move your head around objects such as a yoke/throttle/Prop/Mixture levers to see switches etc in a real life manner.
Finally, I’m pretty sure airlines will not hire a pilot with only one eye! That is 2D and no depth of field, which is critical for a pilot. Maybe you will tell me an airline that does allow mono vision.
Ok for starters and with all due respect what are you talking about one eye? i never mentioned one eye
but i will humour you

plus TACA international airlines very famous incident (note the captain)

You can also move around the cockpit with a head tracker and if you got real levers in front of you you don’t even need that i can just look at them and touch them with my REAL hand.
Just enjoy your VR and i will enjoy my 2D dont need to try and rubbish one
I probably fly 80% 2D and 20% VR, at most. VR takes longer to set up, is less comfortable, less chill and uglier. I mostly use VR when I want the practicality of moving around and doing things like aerobatics in cities. VR is mostly a practicality thing for me on occasion and not an immersion one as it doesn’t bring much mure of it.
100% VR, 0% 2D. If VR support was removed, that would be the day i stop playing the game.
100% flying in VR
