I wonder, of the ones having VR gear - which percentage is your use of MSFS in VR vs. “conentional” on a 2D monitor?
Me, i rarely ever use 2D, usually only if i have some complex task in the menus i want to do, or for some good screenshots - so I’d say like 95% VR. But powerful machine (4090, 5800x3d, VP2)
(Having said that i would recommend MSFS VR to anyone who didnt try that yet. My bet you won’t want to switch back).
100% flying in VR.
Including VATSIM, copying clearances on Wacom tablet and OpenKneeboard.
I have DIY panel with buttons, switches, knobs so I touch mouse only to deal with my charts or to control SkyDemon running on separate PC and brought to the VR cockpit with VNC feature of All-in-one tablet by FlightSimulator.me.
Someday, I’ll get around to learning to fly tubeliners, which I’ll do in 2D so that I can more easily multi-task and read reference material. But until then, I’ll remain in VR.
2D Monitor in Fs2020? What are you talking about? I have two 4k Monitors directly mounted before my eyes. Do you mean these? I think they’re called 'VR Headset. Does any one know what else can be used to be inside the flightsimworld?
I have a 42" LG Oled as my monitor. It is one of the best screens you can get.
And yet, the only thing I prefer it to my G2 is for in MSFS is it’s HDR, which does look spectacular especially at night during rain. I still never fly in 2d I just cannot bring myself to do it.
100% VR for flying. I pause the sim and swap over to 2D for screenshots because I have 2D set up with Ultra settings. This way the frame rate makes no difference for the screenshot, but they look great.
Flying light GA stuff for sightseeing I use VR, nothing to beat it despite the less than crisp images. Up to now I’ve stuck to 2D for airliner flying as VR was a bit cumbersome with note-taking etc. and the lack of sharpness meant I was forever leaning over or magnifying the view. However I’ve just bought a Huion tablet and I’m now trying to get Open Kneeboard to run so I can experiment.
In passing I’d mention I treated myself to a Knobster, expensive but far, far easier than manipulating knobs with the mouse or VR controllers.
If I’m flying with friends, then we usually do that with cameras so that’s flat otherwise it’s VR and my trusty HP Reverb G2 all the way. VR flying is such a joy, the presence you have being in the cockpit just completely blows away the flat experience and it’s really hard to go back.
100% flat monitor; my Valve Index has been collecting dust unused for over a year. Too many downsides to VR, mostly general issues with being stuck in a headset but also the controls are pretty wonky. I much prefer having my head in the open air and having more consistent performance.
