Just sharing a video that Youtuber Pie in the Skies Tours put out last night, his best settings guide, aimed specifically at high end systems using VR with a Reverb G2, although worth checking out for everyone.
I followed them to the letter and they have massively improved my experience. I had motion reprojection enabled as that was the only way I could eliminate cockpit stutter before, his settings disable it but somewhow still keep it very playable, and oh my God it looks good!
Definitely recommend trying these out if you are VR user, especially if you’re rocking a 3080 or higher and a Reverb G2.
This works better for me: https://youtu.be/IexLR_qXsp0
Have 64GB RAM and set my page file to " No page file" and in the sim, i change little things higher, because I have a 3090
The clouds still don’t look as good as they did before the sim update 5 and my 3090 is only filled with 8GB of 24Gb … but no stutters.
Pie in the Sky is great for VR settings suggestions. Yet different people see, or are annoyed by different things. He doesn’t find the current reflections bug too annoying for example, whereas I had to turn it off until it’s fixed.
Ha, yes totally agree with you on the reflections. For me, they seem tied to my head movement, so as i move my head they dance and jitter around, incredibly irritating if your doing coastal flying. If I keep my head still they look ok.
One issue I have with his settings: he has custom render scale unchecked and claims it is 100%. As far as I understand this is not true - the custom render scale will actually vary by system and load meaning many people won’t have the true 100% but great performance. This also aligns with my experience: manual 100% causes more stutters than leaving unchecked…
Maybe others can jump in. Again I am not certain but that would explain some of the “transformations” that people see.
I once tested it out and Custom Render Scale unchecked for me was actually the equivalent of checked with 85%. So if you have it checked and set to 100%, that is a higher resolution than unchecked would be.
with a 3090 24GB VRAM, OXR render scaling seems to set at 100%. At least that’s what appears when box is checked.
Tried Pie settings and produced an acceptable result but still not quite there with clarity. Smooth performance though. Raising settings from default does not appear to have much improvement although the “brightness” seems to be reduced.
