[1.9.3.0] Successful Flight Airbus A320neo

After updating, I was able to complete a full flight in the A320neo without any issues. Please note that I did not use in-game ATC

Details:

  • Flight planned entirely in the World Map (including Approach)
  • Loaded Cold & Dark: No issues with startup using normal checklist (left engine fine)
  • Takeoff speeds calculated correctly based on weight and flaps settings
  • VNAV worked flawlessly - aircraft maintained complete arrival procedure including altitude restrictions
  • Approach Hold correctly armed and captured glideslope
  • Elevator and Aileron control was normal on final approach (no random turns on short final)
  • No black screens during flight

Relevant Information:

  • I did not use in-game ATC
  • Out-of-the-box Airbus A320neo
  • Wheels up to wheels down ~20 minutes (very short IFR flight)
  • Multiplayer: Live Players
  • Traffic: Live Traffic
  • Weather: Live Weather

Same here, while using in-game ATC.

Many thanks for this.

How did you plan for your flight, from World Map or using the MCDU?

Did you really say HOLD? I have tried activating the HOLD function on a waypoint from the MCDU and nothing happens, I had assumed it was a feature not implemented? I didnt see this mentioned on the change log.

What about ToC but specially Top of Descent? In my previous flights, the aircraft sometimes doesnt provide ToD guidance (no arrow on the ND) and when it does, it wants to start descending many miles ahead of what many other planning tools advise? I must have been doing something wrong then.

I’ll add this info into the original post and respond here:

  • Flight was planned 100% in the World Map (including approach). I have not had good luck entering assigned approaches in the MCDU while in flight. This is another reason why I prefer not to use in-game ATC until the approach roundabout bug is fixed.
  • Approach Hold - just the approach button to capture the ILS glideslope - I did not attempt an actual holding pattern at any waypoint on this flight.
  • Once I got to my cruise altitude, I simply changed the altitude knob to the lowest altitude on the approach. The plane did start the descent on it’s own at ToD, however I do not recall if the ToD was indicated on the ND.

Good to know. Did the plane rock right and left during cruise?

Oh. Can i ask some question? What correctly i must to do when ATC say me climb/descent some alt? Wait for FMC and VNAV or manual set FLC?

I did not experience any rocking back & forth however my cruise altitude was just 15,000. That behavior may still exist at higher altitudes.

You must change the altitude in the MCP panel and choose managed or selected change. VNAV only tells the aircraft HOW to get to the new altitude you select (restrictions on min/max altitudes/speeds at certain waypoints).

Thanks! You really helped me!

You’re welcome!

I don’t use auto-liners in MSFS (or any other sim) but I’m glad to know it’s working well for you.

Thanks again. Asobo did announce that they fixed a few bugs on the approach page.
Even then you may want to try again - I have had generally good results in a couple dozen flights selecting SID/STAR and Approach procedures on the MCDU, both on the ground and in-flight, even when having something different pre-selected from the World Map.
Entering the plan itself on the MCDU is another story - you need to enter literally every waypoint even when selecting an airway.

I fly mostly VATSIM, but “approach roundabout bug” is new to me?

Glad someone has had success..did same, half way through taxi to the runway the entire plane goes dark. Can’t get any electrical, complete dead. Never had this happen before. :frowning:

Good stuff, I’ll give that a try tonight.

I also fly on VATSIM, however it’s difficult with this approach issue. Essentially, if you enter the approach into the MCDU after the last waypoint on the flight plan then the autopilot turns you around and goes back to the last waypoint before flying the approach. Can’t really have that happen on VATSIM

what Flyinion said. I was having dinner haha. Got beaten to it.

I really can’t say I have seen this. I do follow up closely what the autopilot is doing with my STAR/Approach PDF plates on my second monitor, agree when flying online you cannot leave the autopilot on its own.

I’m surprised that you aren’t aware of this issue, I thought it was pretty wide-spread:
Link to bug

I will try again tonight and see if this could have been resolved in the last patch.

My autopilot stop to work with this update. Flying manually is nice during long flights. and agree. planes is dancing from right to left all time.

I have just made a short flight from cincinnati to dallas, almost perfect, the issues I found:
1.- Autopilot stopped following the approach path after ATC clearance or after entering in the approach phase, not sure.
2.- Speed / Mach button didn’t work, I had to land watching the speed directly in PD.
3.- The sim crashed when oppening the VFR map, after restart, I never closed it and It didn’t crash again.

IFR flight, ILS landing captured with AP with no problems.

Cold and Dark still does not work for me at WSSS airport. Battery buttons not responding. Will try another airport.
