Yesterday, I reach my 1000 hours of flight as a simple VFR leisure private pilot. PC Flight Simulation is associated to this celebration as the two activities are strongly connected in my life.
44 years ago, I started flight simming with my first computer (Sinclair ZX-81). Afterward, all the versions of Flight Simulator have shaped my passion for aviation and dozen of PCs. 22 years ago, I was lucky to log my first hour of flight in my still current air club, with the objective to pass the PPL certificate and stopped. And finally I never quit. As I’m still here with MSFS2020/24 now building amateur freeware scenery and giving back to the community.
All along this incredible journey, started to learn to fly here in Paris, France and also hundreds of hours in flight trips in North America (West or East coast US, Bahamas, Caribean…), PC flight simulation was a companion. Or the other way around ? Learn, practice and always discover new things. As the real aviation, it was intense and full of new friends.
During this yesterday real flight, the one to get over 1’000 hours milestone, I also took some photos for the next update of my Toussus/LFPN MSFS scenery
Thanks to the sim community !

GONGRATULATIONS!
When I stopped actual flying (for no specific reason) I had about 550 hrs. Seeing your post brought back a lot of those memories. I shudder to think about how many sim hrs I have going back to the Sub-Logic days.

Congratulations. That is a significant number. Both in hours in the air and of course also in financial terms. We all know that it is the shape of your wallet that makes the aircraft fly and not that of the wings.
Despite being a stickler for good logbook upkeep in paper and in electronic form, I managed to miss both the 1000h and the 1500h mark until it totaled up the hours later on.
Having left the US west coast in 2013, to go back to Germany I pretty much also gave up adding a great deal of hours to that total. But every once in a while an opportunity comes up to go flying again.
I wish you all the best and safe flying for the next 1000h.
