1TB SSD almost full already!

Hi Guys, as the title states my 1 TB SSD is almost full already!? a brand new PC.

I have 193GB free of 930GB and all I have installed bar the OS and what comes with it is a few mods…

This may sound a bit stupid without much contect but does this seem right?

if you need more detail please ask, not tech savy atall!

MSFS size on disk 671 GB (721,422,385,152 bytes) - can this be right?

There’s a YouTube by Britec that covers exactly this question. Sorry not at computer right now but, if it helps, it’s quite recent and easy to find.

Thanks i’ll try find it!

My MSFS folder is 184 GB with 10.3 GB of that in the community folder.

My premium deluxe store /official is 162,935,330,145 bytes
Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.18.15.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe not even 2 MB
Then you have CACHE files set up in MSFS

I found the culprit! rolling cache!

639GB free of 930GB!

would this seem right?

Mine is 32gb. You specify the size in the options. Not sure how yours got set to eat up the whole drive but it appears to be doing just that.

not sure myself but wow!

639GB of 930GB free seem OK would you think or do you reckon thats still abit high?

My MSFS folder is 158GB
169 GB in my AppData folder.

Not sure where the other 122GB is accountable…

Probably the AppData folder links to the ‘MSFS’ folder so there is 158 GB counted twice, so check again

Ah yes, 169GB of Appdate which 158GB is MSFS.

still I have 120GB unacountable for?

Seb mentioned during previous Dev Q&As that there are diminishing returns beyond setting Rolling Cache to 1.5x current system RAM (i.e., 16 GB RAM, set 24 GB Rolling Cache).

158 GB for the MSFS folder is about right.
My AppData is 5.35 GB.
You still have many Apps not mentioned.

For example, Windows 10, Office, other programs, music, video, etc.

Thanks!

Yes the basics that come with Windows.

Sorry for lack of info. Not one bit tech savy

You should look at Win10 File Explorer.
and
Look at WIN 10 Disk Management. (right click “Start”. click Disk Management.)

I will get that a go.

Are they tools to analyse the files etc?

File Explorer to look at files.
Disk Management to look at your disk(s). Don’t change anything. Just look.

Thank you. Appreciate the help

There is the app “TreeSize Free” in Windows Store that should be better to look where those Gb of data are hidding.
