20 years ago, Microsoft created the FFB2 stick

That was the time of MS Combat Flight Simulator… Microsoft offered us, at a very affordable price (like 60e? Don’t remember…) a wonderful FFB stick!! That incredible new dimension to simulation!! While I keep 2 of these, I use a Warthog, only for the multiple buttons / 4 or 5 ways hats… but I keep dreaming of a MS FFB3, combining that good old FFB with modern grip full of hats!! Don’t you??

Combat flight sim was fun. I still have all three versions but don’t fly them anymore!

Whatever happened to FFB? I had one for years until the motor packed in. Was an absolute blast playing with a FFB stick. Great immersion factor.

I still have one and the steering wheel too. As far as I know they still work. But I have not used them for quite some time. If MSFS ever supports it I might have to pull it out of storage. The only thing I did not like about it, was you had to be very careful when you let go of it because it would not stay centered on it’s own.

Why was OP flagged? I’m going to get flagged for asking about flag?

FFB definitely adds another level of realism

I still use it for this sim. Bought it in 2003 for FS2004.

A little dusty but for 106 USD at the time, it was clearly a great buy!

Ha Ha…that’s awesome. I’m amazed it still works in Windows 10 as you would think the drivers for it would be ancient.

After a lot years, was converted in a cyclic for helos…nice btw.

Hehe nice. I’ve seen others do that. I actually have been operating mine without FFB for about 15 years. I never liked the “forces” felt fake to me. Flying light aircraft at least the yoke/stick is much easier to move without FFB simulation and imo more realistic. Of course irl there is the air pushing against your control surfaces but I’m happy without forces.

I had the non-FFB version and it was one of the best sticks I ever had.

Most things are flagged because the user disagrees with the content. In this case though it is probably the risque non family-friendly reference.

I fly with an FFB2 as my main stick (it needs XPForce to get the forces working properly) and a Fulcrum non-FFB yoke for when I want a yoke. If I could get an FFB mod for the Fulcrum it would be amazing.

Hope they’ll do this for the gliders release or the helicopters.

Never tried one, but even the vibration in the Xbox controller was great for takeoff, touchdown, stall, and overspeed.

I still have one of their old wheels. I’d been using it with Forza 7 but it was killing the frame rate with force on. But I found forza_emuwheel last year and that fixed the frames. A bit of a pain to set up everytime though.

I just hope the frame rate increase / vibration gone introduced with SU5 is not a similar problem, and possibly why vibration hasn’t been fixed.

Could you share your build of this cyclic?

I’ve 2 Sidewinder FFB2’s here. One brand new, unused in the box that I bought for 30 euro in 2006! :joy:

Oh yes, i have a lot projects including complete enclosure for 737, and a lot helos, (more than 25 years as a simmer)21-01-11_1527

I heard that some patent troll owns a patent for some fundamental aspect of FFB joysticks, refuses to build any or license the patent rights, and sues anyone who tries. Shame. I’d love one.

Great but, The link is dead?

Doesn’t need drivers. Windows 10 recognises it.
