How often does this occur for you? (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)
Consistently every session.

:white_check_mark: REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue.

  1. Select Free Flight and use SR22T with Red/White Livery
  2. Use configuration to set Registration and Call Sign to a different value - I use N777AH
  3. Proceed to free flight and check registration number on walk-around. The registration number reads as per the screenshot below.

My suspicion is that this will be solved if/when Marketplace becomes available again. It seems like it’s streaming assets in a fixed configuration and it needs to be locally installed in order to configure something like this.

Custom reg doesn’t work with any aircraft in FS24 for me. Voted.

Start at an airport in Australia or the UK. MSFS will assign a random tail number based on the country you have selected. For the UK it will start with G and for Australia it will start with VH. The tail number you have set in the identification tab when selecting your aircraft/livery will be ignored and overridden by a randomly generated country specific tail number, even if your tail number’s format matches the country of your airport. Any tail number specified in the ATC_ID of the aircraft.cfg of a stand alone livery will be also be ignored.

That is pretty stupid. So if I want to fly a BA Airbus from France to UK the sim will assign a French reg? How stupid.

I wondered why my Wasp wouldn’t show NAVY on its boom.

Assigning a tail number based on startup airport is a better idea than using the default ASXGS tail number MSFS 2020 used. But this new process was not properly thought through by Asobo, as it should only kick in if the user has not assigned a tail number when selecting an aircraft/livery. Livery creators also need a method to be able to bypass this process to allow them to match a commercial aircraft’s often unique tail number font and location. And some of those methods no longer work in MSFS 2024 because of this new auto generated tail number process.

I think that the the auto generated tail number is just a good idea poorly implemented.

I confirm this problem.

It is happening to the Cessna 172 as well. I suspect other aircraft are having the same issue, along with not able to update the aircraft conditions via the EFB. The update fails on the SR22.

When I choose my own registration for the PC-24 and the Longitude and save it, it doesn’t remember my choice when I load in and instead there is a random registration on the fuselage.

I can confirm this

Same problem with the Cessna 172.

I had this with the 172 as well, started three flights, three different registrations (all region appropriate, but that might have been luck).

This seems particularly problematic with Volanta which uses the registration to identify existing flights for the aircraft.

A custom registration number does not paint on the livery, but it is used by ATC communications. Need to fix the livery part and I think that will clear this issue.

Yep. It will sometimes load the initial flight with my choice in the X Cub, but subsequent flights will have another UK registration. Once it even changed the livery.

Yep seeing this too. I can save it in the menus and it sticks, as soon as I enter free flight it randomly changes to something else.

This is a big deal for those of us who use Volanta to track our flights

As a workaround maybe this will help in Volanta general settings:

Cessna 172 same problem confirmed

Same here. None of my (Aviator Edition) aircraft will display my custom callsign on the aircraft.
ATC recognise it but the plane doesn’t display it. It’s been like this since I first installed the sim.
