I have the same problem, for the moment, with the DR400. I have not yet used other devices.
In the pre-flight configuration, I indicate a callsign. I quit by saving. When I return to the options, the callsign that I indicated is correctly entered.
But when I launch the flight, I have a completely different registration.
For information, I do not use, for the moment, any third-party software.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes, I want to use a specific registration, but it is not used.
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Flying the Cessna 172 G1000 version, MSFS 2024 generates a new Aircraft registration for each time you fly the 172. I would prefer that the registration remained the same.
Having a random registration generated each time you fly messes up the logging in Volanta (online flight logging program). Because of the random registration numbers being generated, a new plane is created in the Volanta program.

This is the same bug for all the aircraft I’ve flown which includes every prop airplane and all the helicopters. Providing screenshots would be a waste of effort.
I stopped trying to set my reg. number in 2024. Hasn’t worked on multiple aircraft…airplane or heli.
Just downloaded FS2024, can not get custom registration to work on any aircraft I’ve tried so far. Voted.
Yep, upvoted tried on multiple aircraft
ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Description of the issue:
When selecting an aircraft for free flight, opening the identification tab and choosing a custom tail number - this is not reflected on the aircraft when starting the flight. MSFS selects your tail numbers by default and ignores what you enter.
If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
This is happening on all planes in my library. I have the Aviator edition.
[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
I have removed and tried with no mods and mods installed - there is no difference. Mods I have installed are:
- BATC
- FSLTL base models
- A2A Commanche
- PMS50 GPS
- Navigraph EFB Chart App
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every flight

• has occurred on C-172, C-152 and Club Crafters for me
My selected reg no. only appeared once on 15 attempts, however could not repeat the success. Not sure what I did to make it work.

• In addition to updating the tail number via the sim configuration, I have also updated the tail number in aircraft.cfg for the aftermarket plane that I fly. The sim defaults to a random tail number.

• Yes
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Load any plane and change the ID. The custom ID / tail number is not retained for the flight. In MSFS2020 the tail number could be set and would persist until changed. In 2024 even if you set it each flight it reverts to the default tail number when the flight starts.

You seem to have enough reports from others to realize there is a problem. What I can tell you is that, the custom Reg entry line does not accept an ENTER key to repopulate the BACK option. I need to click on open space to get the BACK option to return. I don’t think, at least in the Steam PC version, it ever gets submitted to a profile.
