2024 Career Mode

I like the blue boxes and easy gamified non time consuming check rides. Give zero cares to do real procedures. I want to skip thru and just fire fight, deliver cargo etc, and relax after a long day. Not to to virtual school.

But I know a lot of people here on forums are more than casual simmers. The casual simmers likely are more in reality but not on forums. So the best approach to me is yes add a difficulty slider. Just like other games when you start a campaign mode you choose a level, ie Recruit or Veteran

I’m just happy that so far airwork isn’t part of the checkrides. I haven’t done chandelles, lazy 8s or s-on-a-road since I did my commercial ride over 30 years ago………..

Surely they won’t have the blue boxes for 12 hour long hauls when we get to airliners. Is there a setting in the accessibility menu to turn them off. And is it possible to program the departure and arrival airports on the garmin in the 172 and just autopilot using heading mode?

This was posted today and contains a little more info:

At one point he says there’s options during career missions for how comfortable you are, that you can choose for your missions to start cold & dark and have to program your EFB & flight plan and everything yourself, it sounds presumably like assists and everything will all be able to come off, and just that we probably got streamlined into an easy thing because it’s simpler and gets people flying faster for more telemetery, if I had to guess

agreed, my idea of career for myself is that I’m taking it slow and kinda ‘roleplaying’ all the aspects, but I imagine a lot of people don’t want to deal with that every time and just want to do the missions themselves because that’s what’s unique about career, I think the mix is what makes the potential of career really cool and it sounds like hopefully they do have that in mind for the full release

I had them all off in the Alpha test, but those settings didn’t affect Career Mode.

This sounds very promising! I’d figured as such.

At the highest realism/difficulty level, they should have random idiots shining green lasers at the airplane while you’re trying to land.

FYI, The section on careers, presented by David Dedeine, co-founder, Asobo, begins at 36 minutes in the link provided by @smt923, above.

Thanks for posting

Nothing new mentioned in the Global Preview.

A few things I’m hoping for the Career in the future:

-Real time/weather selection rather than the ‘curated’ TOD seen in the alpha. Eligibility to fly at any given time/conditions will depend on certification (night, IFR).

-The option to enforce a more NEOFLY approach to pilot and plane position that ‘forces’ you to fly only out of your current given location. I like the idea of being recommended for jobs by your clients and building networks but I thought it would be done on a more local level, rather than just being teleported to Venice after 2 flights around my home base in a 172, 6000mi away.

-More starter airports. I get that flying out of an international as a beginner is unrealistic, but there are many ‘local’ airports where you can do PPL that are not selectable either.

-Tying the animal locations/migrations and flora changes into the jobs system. Safari bush flightseeing, Autumnal forest tours in NE USA/Canada etc.

I am pretty certain that Career Mode will as many other things get updates and changes post launch. What we get on launch is one thing, and it might be great. But we should also expect to give them a lot of feedback and that there will probably be changes and additions to career mode. It was said there will be additions to career mode down the line in the Global Preview Event Presentation

at 1:23 jorg incorrectly calls a 737 a 787.

I hope so too, but they will need to include more information in the misson briefs, like what altitude they want for the sightseeing flights. I also don’t want to get ding’d for flying pattern entries that we use in real life that don’t match their specific desired ground track. Not sure how to do that without the blue boxes.

That was my concern too. Yes i hate the blue boxes but there is no chance ill pass a check ride / mission if i have to follow that strict of an invisible path.

Are you able to change your name within the career mode? I am not particularly enamoured with the idea of being addressed as Mucus Tech by my flight instructor.

Ahh, the consequences of our actions…

Seriously though, I’d rather input a name than be called by a gamertag, especially as it’s only single player anyway.

Aren’t our names associated with our accounts anyway? I know when I start my XBox it says hi and my name… I wonder why FS24 wouldn’t just use that.

Let’s remember, Asobo had to guess at careers to create for the initial release, and had to develop the framework in which careers would be developed.

Once they create the SDK for career creation (I certainly hope they do, but don’t imagine it will be ready day one), I’m SURE there will be an Explosion of career creation, this being one of them!

As a PPL myself already, I’d be willing to work on such a thing, though I imagine there will be better people for it. For me, I’m hoping they have or will have a PPL career, which let’s me fly like I do, $500 hamburger runs and all, and I get to work my way through planes. So much to unpack here, one path might be buying and selling planes, that could help me do it in real life!

Yes, another vote for this… Did you make a wishlist?

I agree. I only selected this name because I thought it would only be used on this forum and the one I wanted to use was taken. I was quite startled to discover it followed me into Flight Simulator, I was not expecting that.
But yes, I was hoping to have a pilot called Carl Thunderthise as my career guy.

You know you can chenge it here, right?

I did not know that. Thanks. However, I still think the Career Mode should allow you to call your pilot whatever you want, because if a gamer tag is taken, you can’t have a pilot called that.
