2024 Career Mode

I’m still NOT satisfied with Career Mode. WHY are private jets dispatched out of grass strips? WHY are shortcuts allowed that SKIP the grind? And WHY is there still no true home base airport? Every mission starts with a pointless “transfer aircraft” fee.

What I want is SIMPLE: let me base a cargo company in Idaho, fly a network of routes, and return to my home airport. Instead, the mode feels random and disconnected. These oversights exist because Asobo HIRES amateur pilots and takes their input instead of consulting REAL pilots who understand how aviation careers ACTUALLY work!!!

And why give us missions to military airports where they know you will get a restricted airspace ding. I even had one that started at a military airport many months ago.

The short runway thing - there are some folk who like the challenge and don’t want them out. (not me I hasten to add) But they should at the very least publish the runway length if you highlight the mission before you click into it. At least you would know if it is something your particular craft could do.

I am hoping the future will bring many great improvements to this mode. They have had to focus on stability up ‘til now.

Hi all… anyone encounter problems with passenger transport missions in the 737 max when there is no jetway?

99% of the times (might be 100%) the passenger loading stops at 39%. Most of the times when I skip to taxi I get the message mission failed due to leaving the ramp (or some stuff like that). Had it ones I could continue but all the passengers seated under the belly (see pic below)

When there is a jetway it’s no problem.

When more people have this experience please let me know. Also I couldn’t find a bug report for this, if there is one please send a link. Otherwise I will make one. Thx

The inclusion of the longitude has given this mode new light, but there are new bugs introduced with SU3

Now there is traffic and now I get told to hold short because the AI traffic is stuck on the runway, it won’t move, so I don’t get clearance. I wait 30mins then take off anyway coz VIP client says time is priority. Get dinged for taking off with no clearance. ATC goes mute the entire trip. I follow the mission steps and land but because ATC went mute there is no fancy music on approach which is a red flag I can’t finish the mission. I get to gate nothing happens, my only choice is to skip to decent, basically rewind and this triggers the ATC to wake up including the fancy music and guide me in and complete mission after landing at the same airport twice. Pls Asobo, release the heavies

10 months in and you can’t even get the certifications yet let alone fly them. I don’t think we’ll fly heavies in 2025.

I personally fly with traffic turned off in career mode, it’s way to buggy to be enjoyed. With traffic off it is more dead feeling but I can easily get A to B with the longitude.

Yeah I was going to test and turn off traffic if I keep getting the forever hold short command bug

I know 100% the sim performs better with no traffic, it is night and day different.

I am enjoying it though, less lonely and ATC alerts about traffic is immersive, but sometimes you got to cut things out to enjoy this 2024 sim

In free flight I use FSLTL but no atc, I want to try say intentions soon but for now no atc in free flight and minimal atc in career, only when necessary

yes, it’s completely impossible to test whether the destination runway is a grass strip of insufficient length for the chosen aircraft, or is actually a helipad/seaplane dock, or a military base which is closed to civilian traffic, or any of the other ridiculously laughable “oopsies” the mission generator creates. it’s clear that Jorg has never played Career Mode himself.

It was a completely bogus thing to say, and it was disappointing to see him try to dodge the QA issues by using such a cheap device as “procedural mission number too big to test”.

They have 12 mission types. It’s entirely feasible to construct a constrained mission system that can be tested, even if it means only using a subset of available airstrips that fit certain criteria. If you can’t pull the airport criteria out to enable proper mission selection, then you obviously need to do that first. HELLO??? Ditto for all the other general and specialist mission elements that need to be tested.

Career Activities

They just don’t want to invest in doing it is all. Too hard & too expensive basket. Let’s just do a cheap unfocused random mission generator and get the users to test it.

So much cheaper, WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG!

There must be lists of airports or fields somewhere from which they could literally write a piece of code to exclude military airports. OR runways below a certain length for VIP missions for example - leave the short runways for bush flying and short TOL craft missions. Surely they don’t have to “test” every mission?

of course there is. if they can ding you for landing on a military airport, there’s a piece of code that tells them it’s a military airport. they also know the runway lengths of every airport when the missions are generated. they don’t have to test each mission. it’s a fundamental failure at the mission generation stage which has never been addressed, probably because whoever wrote that part has been laid off along with the thousands of other MS coders in recent months.

Overheating with a low and mid spec PC shouldn’t happen by running the sim. I asume it’s you processor overheating… check your thermal paste and the connection of your cooler in the meantime :wink:

All Inibuilds airbus fleet is buyable in career mode (SU4) , did anyone tried it ?

Edit: Ok I did a whole flight, it was smooth, 80 FPS until the approach. No major issue or game breaking bug

But: As usual the ramp driver doesnt seems to not have any driving license, it got stuck for 10 min, even if there is nothing around except the passenger bus

The descent was terrible, autopilot was not following any vnav path (all was well programmed as I did 1000 times with fenix and inibuilds) and not respecting any speed or altitude constraint, had to do it manualy, never had this kind of issue on free flight with this plane

And It’s a shame that the plane is not loading cold/dark but with FPL filled, APU already started etc..

Thanks anyway for finaly adding these planes, just need a bit of work to be enjoyable, can’t wait for the A400

did Inibuilds add a walk-around state with chocks and engine covers? the lack of that was one of the reasons I thought they’d never be added to Career. also, the fact they have a working tablet/EFB that actually loads the correct fuel, weight and balance etc. I’m glad they’ve been added, just actually quite surprised.

The two tablets do not interact with each other, even after boarding and ready for departure the inibuilds tablet was showing 0 pax and 0 cargo (but you can still interactif with it), and fuel seems to be not synchronized too, It’s a mess on this side

There is no chocks or engine covers, you spawn next to the aircraft, wich is partialy configured, APU started etc..

And for me the airbus default livery is immersion killer, would be better to have a full white livery.

I just browsed the official 2024 career mode FAQ (https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/17123300945052-Career-mode-FAQ) and found the following:

First of all, I would love to see the SF 25 in MSFS. However, I just can’t find any mention of it being released for MSFS 2024 anywhere, and can’t check the marketplace personally as I don’t own 2024 yet.
Is it available for MSFS 2024?

Also that FAQ has a mention of a Dassault Falcon 6X-yet no dev has brought one to the Marketplace or even MS/Asobo working on one.
