The problem I have in career mode, If I exclude the poor design of the mission generation and interface is that some “exotic” missions are just not doable
Agricultural heli is still spawning the truck in houses or trees (1 time on 2 or 3)
SAR is still sometimes spawning targets in the wood or on high slope wich are not landable, and the worse is you cannot use the winch in these cases (as it was shown in ALL trailer) The winch is only usable on sea missions
The hoist heli cargo missions still have a bug who is randomly destroying the load you are hoisting
The HPG 145 action pack is just destroying the whole helicopter side of the career mode, and It’s an addon only intended for ONE aircraft
Except all of that, medium cargo missions makes me check every departure/destination one by one to see if there is enough runway to take of/land or if it just has lights, I’m just tired of doing that, it can be fix by adding 2 filter on the world map but no, the career mode seems to be abandoned since SU2 (wich bring some fixes and useful features) but nothing since
And guys, where is the heavy certification promised on release, then SU1, 2, 3, 4 ?
As the stability and performances are really good in SU4 I hope they will intensly focus on career mode on SU5, that’s why I bought 2024 and It’s still in a disastrous state since more than one year…
And as it is, the frustration isn’t necessarily stemming from all the things a person has to learn. It’s stemming from the appearance of not having to know any of it, yet getting blasted by winter, or ridiculous fuel loading, or aircraft that barely work. And all of that with very little education. Heck, nobody explained how the weather maps work - we had to figure it out! And folks don’t think forcing people into multiple airplanes when they barely have the concepts of one down isn’t counterproductive?
The only things that will unscrew this: education - first and foremost. Relaxing the penalties, letting people nerf the weather, letting them choose the aircraft with which they’re comfortable/familiar, and letting us fix airports are all a close second.
When I do play career mode, I typically do it in the US, and if both the departure and destination airports don’t start with a K, I won’t pick that mission (Primarily VIP flights). This is a little quicker method for me than manually checking each airport. If the airport code is something like “T87,” I ain’t going.
I think both of the above underscores the fundamental design issues with Career Mode. Flight Simulator has thrived over the decades as an open ended sandbox of realism in which users are free to explore the world and world of flight. There weren’t endless complaints that there was nothing to do and the airliners were too hard. You made your own fun.
Career Mode is now attempting to shoehorn on a rigid arcade game mode into an open ended world simulator. It should be facilitating your fun making by giving you new possibilities, not just constraining them by adding rigid rules. If they could control everything in the mission design, maybe it would work, but it’s pretty pretty clear they can’t. So stuff breaks constantly. I agree, they can’t just remove the rules as that’s basically what this game mode is and it would break it even further. I think they need to back to the drawing board on this one. I would have loved to see them start by adding persistence, economies, and user progression as features into the core sim that users are now free to roam around inside of, but we got leveling up with points instead.
I agree that they can’t and shouldn’t remove the rules entirely - it is kinda the point of the mode. But I think they should be relaxed a lot until they have a stronger system in place. Kind of a middle ground solution - “have fun with some basic mission generation and progression, but it’s still early access (or whatever) so rules will be brought back in once we can correctly implement them and explain how they work.” That would give them the freedom to work on things incrementally while allowing users to enjoy the sim without the frustration engendered by the appearance that it’s feature-rich, fair, and knows what it’s doing.
Yes someone else already told me to try the US, but I really prefer to fly in Europe
And I don’t have so much problem with charter VIP since SU2 or 3, almost all of the missions are leading to large airport wich have approach procedures and light, but It’s not the same for medium cargo wich is totally random regarding the departure/destination
And as I fly almost every time in the same area I just noticed that the mission are always the same since one year for some missions types (especially for private/VIP charter, SAR, light/medium/heli cargo)
The only missions that are different from one day/season to the next are the passenger and firefighting, the generation system for the rest seems to be stuck since the release
I love career mode can’t get enough, the dings are annoying the bugs are annoying but I pursue relentlessly grinding and building my fleet. I just want the heavies so bad the 747 is my jam
This is still happening in the beta but at least now there are no costs applied to the bug, checked the plane after it was still all good
I bought a Partenavia for career mode. It earns the same in passive income as the TBM in VIP. I haven’t flown it so I don’t know if there’s missions for it yet.
The whole fuel system is broken. Other planes use double fuel and go less than half the stated distance eg pc24. It’s crazy they don’t fix this mode but prefer to give us stranger things and jurassic park.
Please fix what you developed in November 2024, the base sim, a year ago before all these extras.
more attempts to discover any rhyme or reason behind the Career Medium Cargo missions vs the Britten Norman Islander: TL;DR it can’t do 590km missions either, for… reasons.
There is far too many rules in career mode removing choice and freedom
The islander fuel issue
You can’t fly the 747 wherever you want either. In beta I’ve had errors about runway length being too short, it won’t let me fly the 747 to Bali, but the A380 lands there in real life, so I don’t understand
IMO freelancer mode should remove all the rules it’s called freelancer for a reason, especially time of departure we absolutely should have to freedom to slide that clock as a freelancer
Just did a flight with the Saab 340. Started with 88% fuel and ended with 88% fuel on board! Im so thrifty, I can fuel save better than an electric battery!
I know- it’s really a joke at this point… It was supposed to be included in SU3 and they said “we’re really close but it looks like we might miss the SU3 cutoff so it’ll have to be pushed to SU4”… Here we are in SU4 and nothing… What makes it worse is the fact that they’ve basically ignored the issue with little to no communication.
