Throttle idle and spiral down back to the airport as fast as possible. It’s really fun and the only way, you have to go fast.
This is my Premium Deluxe Career Mode experience on Xbox Series X. How did this pass quality control? It’s one of the first missions.
Weeelll, the one by Santa Paula was actually on South Mountain, the aptly-named mountain immediately to the south of town. There was a smaller fire, “Felicia,” that was ignited on the same day (11/19 - during a strong Santa Ana event) several miles to the west of Santa Clarita, but they said bye to her pretty quickly. The one you’re showing is closer to Castaic Lake, and I’m not aware of one up there this year.
That said, you could basically roll a die and be close enough down there.
Hey there.
So far im having a lot of fun in the career mode. But Im a bit concerned that on the images only the standard edition planes are shown. Cant I use the ones from the Aviators edition like the Skyvan for transport or skydiving missions?
There just one explanation: it’s Tom Cruise downside the plane !
you need to do certification and unlock specific activities to get access to them in Career mode.
I’ve got my ppl and have moved onto helicopters. I can’t complete the first instrument tutorial where it tells me to look at the digital cluster.
I’ve looked at it from every conceivable angle and zoom level but it won’t move on to the next part.
I skipped to the next lesson and it won’t accept my hotas one as the default controller and defaults to keyboard no matter how many times I select it in the settings.
Amy help appreciated, thanks.
I know.
But when it shows me the new planes that I can use in this new kind of job it only shows the ones from the standard edition and not from my aviators edition. I purchased the big edition cause I wanted to use at most planes and helis as possible in the career mode. It would be a bummer if you only could use the planes and helis from the standard edition although you have the big one.
you need to earned them before you can used them
So they are there and I can buy them once I begin to open my own companies?
yes sir but beware they are very expensive. good news is that you will be able to earn way more money once you own a plane but you also have to pay for maintenance.
Thank you Symtex. Thats what I wanted to hear
So after a few days with Career mode, here are some things that I have found.
Run ups - Why is there no run-up? You should always check your aircraft systems prior to take off. including flaps, magnetos, carb heat (if installed), mixture, lights, flight controls, instruments, etc.
Flaps - When checking flaps (while standing still), I get a flaps extended above Vfe.
Taxi and Hold short - when pulling off the runway, I get the “Taxi with out clearance”
Blue guides of death - The blue guides are bad enough, but then they have “tried” to guide me right through a mountain. Additionally, the decent path should be around 500 fpm in a small GA, often the Path will cause a 2000fpm drop.
Training - overly basic. While yes I understand this is for gamers and casual players, why not provide some basic handling tips, like stall recovery, loss of engine in flight, maybe what V-Speed mean?
Communications - just wrong, on so many levels…. Phraseology is lacking,.
After finishing twin cert, night rating, and complex (hi power) ratings, the only missions available are still 172 sight seeing, parachute, and cargo…?
Overall, while I understand that this technically a game, the career mode seems to teach poor airmanship. I sincerely hope that if anyone is interested in pursuing a PPL or career in aviation, they take this with a very large grain of salt. Go get real training from a real instructor.
Does anyone know if we can use all the default aircraft on career mode? Currently it appears the 747 is not “compatible” it’s not appearing on the list on the airliner certification, neither are any of the Airbuses, what’s the story here?
There are definitely broken missions. Just now a cargo delivery mission wanted me to land a Cessna 172 in a 27 kts tailwind. It was obviously impossible, I crashed twice and almost failed the mission. My reputation went from S to C. This is broken. I’m glad it was not my own plane because I would’ve lost it. Such circumstances should not exist.
On an unrelated, but possibly related note
I think there is an issue with the sim’s airport parking data. I filed an IFR flight plan in the 172 and the sim auto assigned my destination to be a helicopter parking spot.
When you look at how the sim is currently assigning static aircraft types to be placed wherever it pleases on a ramp, it seems there is some sort of issue with the aircraft type identifier and parking.
There isn’t a ton of choice to assign parking by aircraft type. It’s GA, MIL, CARGO, or GATE and a radius. And I’m not sure they’re attributing correctly, anyway.
But part of my request in the Bring Back the World Hub thread is to be able to flag parking to certain categories and classes of aircraft, in addition to career modalities. We should be able to assign jump plane spots in front of skydiving FBOs, fire tankers to fire bases, rentals to FBOs, etc. Helicopters, multiengine, bizjets, transients etc - filter in or out. Just loose thoughts at this time. This is another piece of legacy code that isn’t flexible enough and/or implemented correctly.
One time they wanted me to park on the roof of a hanger, I couldn’t get up there so just skipped to shut down, then I was teleported to the roof to shut down. There are buildings and objects on parking spots. I also had a terrain issues when taxiing there was a big drop off and I crashed like 2 times at walking pace. I’ve also landed on a runway that was 2 stories luckily I landed on the higher story then jumped down to the lower story like Tony hawk on PS2 and collected my rewards
