2024 crash on character creation

Doesn’t work for me. Horrible testing done on this sim.

I was really hoping this would fix it for me. Uninstalled everything installed on Xbox , then all cloud save data via Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) on  Xbox.com

This then triggered the customisation screen on restarting the Sim (through cloud gaming). However when you get to customize character no presets available other than red error man. And CTD once you try to customize red error man even using cloud gaming.

This REALLY needs patched. Looks like servers are coping now but this is truly game breaking for so many. Cant do career. cant go outside aircraft. Cant start at stand. etc etc.

You can have my red error guy foc. He’s house trained and everything.
Edit: finally got it to work by skipping the initial avatar set up and doing it in the sim. Everything works now so far…

Just for info, I can confirm that hotfix 1.1.9.0 has made absolutely no difference to this issue.

This solution has worked on Steam, I suspect it may work in MSStore version as well, but the folder locations will be different:

  • Ensure MSFS 2024 is closed.

  • In the following path: “C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\StreamedPackages”
delete ALL the folders that start with “asobo-proceduralgeneration”. There should be 15 folders to delete in total.

  • Turn off Steam Cloud in Steam settings.

  • Go into offline mode on Steam.

  • Navigate to where Steam.exe is located. For me it’s “S:\Program Files (x86)\Steam”

  • Navigate into “Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\78070493\2537590”

  • Confirm folder “2537590” has a folder in it called “remote” and a file called “remotecache.vdf”.

  • Delete folder “2537590”

  • Reboot PC

  • Start Steam (Keep it in OFFLINE mode)

  • Start MSFS 2024

  • When prompted, re-login to your XBOX account

  • When the progress bar shows at the bottom of the screen (it should get stuck on 0%) go ONLINE on Steam

From here I was prompted to create a character identity like the initial install but It crashed again when selecting my characters outfit etc.
I launched the game multiple times and this persisted.

I then turned back on Steam Cloud with the game closed and when it prompted me that there was a cloud conflict, I selected my latest local data.

After this I relaunched the sim another couple of times and then I suddenly had a character that was able to be customised.

I dont understand how any of this is translatable to the xbox version.

WOW Finally after many days deleting the cloudsave by the cmd command
“start shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -DeleteCloudSaves” has worked on my PC MS Store MSFS 2024

Massive Thank You So Much! Alas Finally No Red Error Man anylonger Fantastic!

Nothing working for me. Can’t fly because when you have Errol the red error man the sim spawns you in the center of your plane.

For the love of god Asobo.
PATCH THIS.

I have tried every fix for this problem that I have come across with no success with the exception of the following:

Begin a free flight with the Wright Flyer. This overrides your character.

Restart the game. In my case I just ALT+F4’d.

Once you’re booted back up, you should find that the infamous red man is gone and you’re able to customise your identity using the relevant menu.

I’m using the Xbox app version on PC. Like I said, this is the only thing that actually worked for me after trying everything I’ve come across.

I will try this right away

Same issue in series X. The launch of this game has been atrocious.

I’ve deleted all saves, including cloud versions. I’ve uninstalled everything, yet somehow, even with a fresh start, on character design this error dude still appears.

It’s now a game breaking bug as i can’t take part in the career mode, and flying in exterior mode on free fly has the error dude sticking out of the cabin…

Going offline like for other games just isn’t a solution because it’s an always online game.

I really want to enjoy this game, but the poor launch and aftersupport really leaves much to be desired

Im in exactly the same position unfortunately

I didn’t have much faith in this, but it was the only fix that worked for me, I can now play the career mode, thank you!

Didn’t work for me. Did exactly as you said. Still had the red man upon loading the game second time.

This was the fix that worked for me finally.
I’m on Xbox Game pass PC.
I ran this command about 4 - 5 times.

start shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -DeleteCloudSaves

Then on that final try it displayed character presets and I knew it worked.

Will this delete any setting like controls or graphics?

I think it does yes it wipes your cached data.
However it got the game functioning correctly for. Basically nothing works correctly if your character is broken.

I jusr keep getting “ther system cannot find the path specified”. Is this is the command prompt yeah? what exactly are you typing? I’ve saved my game on a different drive to windows. Appriciate the help!

I have mine on a different drive too.
Make sure there’s a space in-between start and shell
