Same here, cannot fly still because of this!
Didn’t work for me neither.
ive just done the following amd worked for me finally
1 skip past avatar creation then when at main world page exit the game.
2 go i to local then streamed packages.
3 scroll down till you see Asobo procedure generation avatar and one that says same but pilot
4 delete both
restart game
once back in main world page click on your bame then customise identity
all options should now be there and will let you create it without it crashing.
hope it works for you too
Ive found a possible fix by deleting the cloud save file.

Nope tried all the above fixes and still get red error guy after delteing cloud saves and CTD if I try and change anything!
Update:
Working now.
Didn’t change anything, but played about an hour after re-installiung it com0pletely about four hours ago.
Maybe it had time to load the data?
I reset career mode this is the only thing that worked for me
Same here. I have the red error character and cannot change anything CTD anytime I try to change it… Tried to delete carreer same issue

reset the career mode worked for me, now the avatar customization works as it should

Hi All
This is for steam users. I’ve just fixed it, uninstall the sim, delete all associated folders in regard to MSFS24, these can be found in the location you installed the sim as well as APPDATA/ROAMING, once you have done this, re-install the sim, and you should be able to edit your character with no issue.

Have same on Xbox. On initial launch (on day game came out) i skipped past character creation as it didn’t load properly
I’ve done some activities etc but always with “red man” standing in the plane (as seen in screenshots above)
Discovered i can’t leave plane etc and figured it might be due to character model issues so went back to customise character and crashes to dash on Xbox everytime i press anything
Have deleted save data from everywhere (cloud and console) but same happens everytime. Tried playing via cloud but same happens and deleting install and installing again does not fix either

Didn’t work for me. CTD as soon as I select anything like before.
Reinstalled the sim and same issue for me. Very annoying, I cannot walk around the plane because of this
