When I click on the handle after the door opens screen reverts to external view. (at rear where I started from)
Shift-C works on every aircraft I’ve tried. If you don’t have that mapped properly, I believe the command is “Take control of character” and it’s a toggle.
I need to map since I do VR. I suspected there was something as I’ve seen people toggling with airliners.
A consistent experience for small aircraft would still be nice.
- The TBM 930 has independent door open and get in out. But you have to click on a specific door spot.
- The Cessna 152 has no way I found to get back out once in
- Many others the door open gets you out, door closed in
- The Bonanza G36 you can open and close the door but no clickable way in I’ve found to get in.
I’d like to be able to just open or close the door and independently get in/out.
I agree with this topic. make in/out a separte control input.
In those planes it is impossible to get out again once being inside:
- Robin DR400
- Diamond DV20
very much support this
Can’t even explore the Asobo 737 MAX cabin and set custom views because of this-can only do this currently with the Showcase camera.
It beats me why in Gods name they do things this way. A 3D game with 6DOF should not be automated, players should have to make the decision. I wonder why you cannot just walk into any of the aircraft like the Chinook, Airliners, Cirus Vision and the rest of them that have larger doors - perhaps asking too much?. No one complained in 2020. There are just so many things they get wrong, would they ever be able to fix all these?
It is currently possible to set a key-binding that gets you in/out of the aircraft - “Shift + C” (TAKE CONTROL OF CHARACTER). I would suggest the door handles remain for opening/closing the doors only with just a click which is more natural especially in VR. In my opinion, the click-spots are irritating if you are already familiar with the sim. We should be able to turn them off as implemented by the other reputable sims.
I know that Asobo teams are doing their best to cater for everyone but they really should stop automating stuff - I strongly dislike being kicked back to the headquarters after completing a mission and I believe may share same sentiments. Users should be allowed to decide what next after every mission. Personally, I would like to walk around the airport after each mission to admire the scenery before heading back to office. Perhaps I should put it up as a Wishlist on its own if not already available. Please vote for it when one is available.
Can’t even explore the Asobo 737 MAX cabin by opening the cockpit door, walk through the cabin and and set custom views in the 737 MAX cabin.
Instead, you are forced to jump in and out of the aircraft and can currently only explore the modelled passenger cabin in the 737 MAX with the Showcase camera which is not ideal.
Your solution doesn’t take into account that there are those who use the sim without a keyboard.
I was shocked and thrilled when I finally installed my old A2A Comanche after flying nothing but default aircraft since Day One. Clicked on the door, it opened, and I was still in the aircraft. Got out, walked around, door still open. Woohoo! Now if they’d get rid of that stupid toolbar at the top and the EFB message at the bottom when I’m walking around, I’d be a happy man. Okay, a not-so-miserable man.
Yes it does, I fly primarily in VR and using the controller for al interactions. you can assign buttons on controllers and other peripherals just like assigning to keyboard. My wish is they should keep the doors open/closed when you interact with the door handle and get in/out with another button(already available) or a different click-spot perhaps at the bottom part of the door frame. Could include a setting to control this behaviour such as “Get in/out of aircraft by opening doors”.
This is really a per-plane feature but don’t expect first-party planes to change they way it works. Microsoft is all about accessibility and having one interaction to enter and exit is the way to go. But I do support the idea of having the door open separate from the enter event.
We need to set out a standard for how developers should make the interactions. For example, the door handle always opens the door. From the exterior, clicking the seat or stairs or door threshold enters the cockpit. From inside, there should be a clear place to click to exit. Probably the bottom edge of the opening or steps.
I only meant that Shift-C is not enough, not everybody has a keyboard. So any solution has to include a way to also enter and exit the aircraft (hence the suggestion for more click spots) on top of opening and closing the door. For instance, it might include dual use click spots, IOW, select with the controller opens the door, and an additional button + select does the entry and exit. Obviously what you’re suggesting is exactly what this wishlist I created is asking for.
While I agree totally agree with your comments regarding getting kicked back to the office, that’s gotta be put in another wishlist. The mods won’t recognize more than one wish in an item.
I’m working with the 2020 Blackbird Corsair in 2024 and can only open the hood with the lever, not any binding. The strong part is if I open the hood all the flight instruments quit.
FWIW I have a cheap Xbox wired controller plugged in and use it solely for walking around and for controlling the the drone cam. I have mapped the ‘A’ button to the ‘take control of character’ function. In my case the scenario I use mostly is I land my plane using my hotas, pick up my Xbox controller and click the ‘A’ button. I can now freely walk around and enjoy the experience (VR btw) and also use the controller for camera mode while doing so. The good thing is you can walk as far as you want but you don’t have to physically walk back, just simple click the ‘A’ button and you are back in the cockpit. Just need to get Asobo to allow activation of camera function while in Drone mode!
Totally agree with this topic. We should be able to separate opening the door and getting into the airplane. At least in the game settings so everyone is happy. But I would love to just look at my planes doors open and not being forced to hop in
I found des Planes where the door click does not trigger teleporting in the cockpit. The Vision Jet and the Beechcraft Bonanza G36. So yes looks like it depend how the plane is configured. But that also show that it’s possible to have a plane and just open the door without being teleported… unless these are bugs.
I haven’t loaded up 24 in a while, but I think the Longitude doesn’t automatically teleport you when opening it from the exterior either. It’s definitely something they could implement.
